ok guys i have read a little bit about turbo mx5s and supercharged mx5s and honestly i dont know which path to take or what it will realistically cost to do.
i mean all im after is i want it to be a daily driver.
i want realiability. and i want fuel consumption to be fairly reasonable.
what do you guys recommend? im pretty much after s2000 perfromance
and a rough cost of what it would cost all up?
ill appreciate any help guys

Having turboed a NB mx5 for substantially less than $10,000 and I am happy with the finished product. Dusts S2000's easily,not sure if I would go down the turbo path again.
The most expensive part of the whole process was tuning and aftermarket ECU. I managed to get the turbo, intercooler, injectors at a ridiculous low price. It took three different tuning shops before I finally got it how I wanted it. At $150 an hour thats a lot of cash.
Getting that tune just right was no easy problem.
Under bonnet temperatures fried several hoses.
Fuel economy have never really sat down to work out what I get, but suspect it isn't good.
It took a long time to get the car running right, which meant the car was off the road quite a lot.
Even though I wouldn't put myself through that heartache again....I love the car to death. Normally change cars every two years. I can't foresee myself EVER getting rid of the mx5, its just that much fun to drive.
Find what you want but look for someone who as already done the legwork.

Budget the best part of $10k to do it well, a bit less if you do much of the spanner work yourself.
So, what's your NB worth? Would a change over price to an SE or SP be $10k? If so, sell what you've got and buy a factory MX5 turbo - all the hard work is done, insurance and rego is easy, as is resale. Even if the difference was a few grand more, it's worth it imo. I was going to turbo my NB8A, but ended up with an SP instead Much better option

yeah it's like taking the train to Perth versus flying - it takes longer & costs more, so you've got to want to experience the journey not just the destination.

Hnoestly guys its good to hear it from a been there doen that perspective, and i see what your saying.

Done well and dont skimp on parts you'll be able to dust a few more things on the road apart from an S2000.
As for city driving everything comes down to your tune...
I have at the moment 2 boost settings low boost approx 185rwkw that will well and truely get 480 to 500ks to a tank and is extremely deiveable (ask Caffiene or Andrew)
flick high boost and blow off supercars (no BS) but yeah you go up in consumption...As for the $10k budget yeah maybe....but my engine alone is well and truely double that.
Now with a family its hard to get out and about in the 5 yeah its up for sale but each time I get out in it , I take it off the market.....If your in sydney drop me a pm and Ill take you for a drive and youll see why

Hi Buy an SE,getting cheaper by the day.I fitted a ROTREX supercharger to my NA 190rwhp,a lot more available for more money.I am happy with the result but I am frightened to add up the total cost.If I had my time over I would buy an SE and fit something like the Miata Mania Kit.

hi people, long time posting here due to studying. finally got time to spend on the miata and after comparing the options to my needs i decided to go for a bolt on turbo kit. i couldnt find a more appropriate topic and i didnt want to start a new one for a question so i decided to post here. so here it goes:
my engine is the NB6C without ABS. My question is: will this kit fit my car or will it need any adjustments?

Uhh, no.
Wrong manifold.
Wrong feed line.
Intake won't fit without modification.
Down pipe is wrong.
No real engine management, and what you get will not work on your car.
