Loved your sight Dweezle - but then I'm biased! Just thought I'd post a pic of what you can do with those tail lights. I dont like them either but then the standard ones look crap with the yellow. I toned mine down a bit - got out the hair dryer and took them apart and painted part of the chrome black. I now think they are passable.

You could wrap them in red film, too.

Interesting idea.
Your painted ones do look better.
I am just not that keen on the clear.

I think i will just get a set of stock ones on there.

They do look a lil odd with the YELLOW but the clear shiny things are bugging me.

$33 each? That's CHEAP! I would have expected over $100. Do it!

Well my lil bro (Carnage) got his license back after a unfortunate double demerit trip to work on his P's.

So i decided it was time for him to reintroduce himself to his NA6. My previous NA6.

I dont start work till 2pm on Thursdays and he is on Holidays, so a morning trip was quickly put together last night and we set off at 8am this morning.

Up to Wisemans and then work out the rest once we get there.

PERFECT DAY for it, traffic low and sun shining.

Well, quite some time has passed since my last update on here.

I finally changed the brakes pads and rotors, quite a needed thing.

Bought myself some HAWK HP+ front and rear from the Good ol USA, and a full set of RDA rotors just because they where $35 each and thought, MEH, ill give them a go.
2 track days and a bit of abuse, and no problems yet.
Absolutely in love with the HAWK pads though.

The harder you press the better they stop :P :P

A lil squeaky when cold but couldn't care less about that.

Put a new stereo in the car.
Will put some pics up soon.
But very happy to have some decent tunes again.

Dropped the K&N filter in, Blue NGK leads, Stuck the SKUNK-2 back on, changed to Castrol 10W-50 Full Synthetic, changed the Gearbox and Diff oil and FINALLY BLED THE CLUTCH!!
Bit of grit in the resevoir.. Anyone know what that could be?
Thought maybe a rubber hose or something deteriorating??
Flushed most of it out and will get a new braided line soon.

On my first super road trip with the Malibu.
First stop at Walcha, NSW and will end up in Brisbane in the next few days.

So if anyone on the way sees the YELLOW MONSTER, make your self heard!!

Well i have made it to Brisbane.
Crazy drive in the pouring rain along the Cunningham Highway.

Saw a bunch of cars that had spun of due to large puddles and broken road surface.

The Malibu is covered in bits of tar, that will be fun to clean up. :x :x

By chance drove past WILLOWBANK and drove in for a look. :P

Looks to be a fantastic venue.
Pretty jealous....

Hoping the weather clears up a bit and i can go have a drive around some of these roads.

Long time no update.
Not much to tell is why

Finally got original tail lights on and lost the awful clear numbers.
Very happy with that choice.

Image

Removed the double din tape deck someone had installed about 15 years ago and though in a nice JVC number
which i can set the colour scheme and has a usb/iphone reader.

Image

Which i got my brother to get me a deal on a tiny 16Gig usb drive that barely hangs out of the head unit.
Still need to either get a 1.5 din pocket or a new tombstone to fill that little gap.

After running in the new engine my brother and i rebuilt for his Silver NA we decided to do a power run with both cars at Mania.
Just to make sure all is good and as a handy starting point to further work. ECU/CAMS etc etc.

Image

Malibu made 73rwkw, and i was happy. not bad for a untouched engine that is 20 years old.
Can someone tell me what Mania's 215 Torque is? What Measurement system is that? Clearly not N-M
Also that dip in power at about 156Km/h is present on both cars. Both are running the stock ecu, so i am assuming that is normal?

Next plan is a new clutch, most likely a Xtreme HD as there so damn cheap and it feels great in the Silver car and perhaps a lightened flywheel at the same time.
Also i think it may be new BATTERY time.
She has been a bit slow to turn over these cold months.

73rwkW is a bloody good effort! Stock intake and exhaust too. I see the correction on yours is "ISO" whereas mine was "DIN" ... not sure if they're the same factors???

I had that dip in power in my dyno run at Mania too. It's not something I notice on the track, so I wonder if it's specific to Mania's dyno. I haven't tried it on another dyno but have been wanting to do that. The torque figures below ~80km/r are nonsense so don't pay them any attention. I suspect that might be due to the engine running down and then ramping up again at the start of the dyno run.

http://www.bikeboy.org/dynocorrectionfactors.html
According to Edition 4 (1996) of the Bosch Automotive Handbook (an amazingly fact packed piece of literature) all the standards listed are the same save the DIN standard. The DIN 70 020 system uses a different ambient air pressure and temperature to the other standards – they use 1013mBar and 20 degrees Celsius as the nominal ‘zero correction’ conditions, whereas the SAE J1349, ISO 1585, JIS D1001 and EWG 80/1269 all use 990mBar and 25 degrees Celsius as the nominal conditions. The way the ambient pressure is measured is also different, with the DIN system using ‘absolute’ air pressure and the others using ‘dry’.

Talk about a COW!
