NA clear bumper side markers/reflectors fit issue

Postby Varjak » Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:13 pm

Hello everybody!

I've recently purchased some clear front bumper reflector/side markers for my green NA to go with the clear side repeaters (circular) and side front lamps. On fitting, I've discovered that they don't sit flush to the bumper, the rear end pokes out and is over-flush even when screwed down tight. It looks odd, see pics attached.

On inspection, it seems that the original, Mazda orange units are thinner and of a slightly different form to the replacement clear ones which I have bought from the US.

Have any of you guys found this issue when purchasing/fitting clear side markers? I'm wondering if I've bought some that only work with US spec bumpers...

If you've found clear side markers/reflectors at a good price (for front and back) that FIT, can you point me in the right direction. Thanks everyone!

clear reflectors mounted on the side are not legal but I guess people know that . If these are aftermarket items they may very well not be dimensionally identical to OE units. You might be able to pack out the low side to even up the appearance when fitted- could this be done with soft gasket material?

Are they correct fitment front and rear? They have a slightly different shape, one is fatter than the other.

Yeah, checked them on the rear as well and the fit is also bad, the parts look deliberately that shape.

Has anyone out there bought some clear side markers that fit well? If so, where did they get them from please?!

x2

I have the IL motorsport ones, I initially had the same problem as you because I assumed that they were the same back to front, that isn't the case and after swapping them around no problems. If yours aren't different front to back I'm not sure what it could be...

I have IL Motorsports ones and like Ben, I had the same situation. Swapped them front to back and all was well.
