Re: SE Replica .. THE NEW CHAPTER MrsB
Awsome weekend at Winton and I am now officially addicticted to BOOST. Car performed effortlessly.
I miss the BOOST, that white na is getting the turbo motor transplanted into it so i don't have to get over taken so much. Your car should be a good package now. Pity about owens car, hopefully it is fixed already. And it was handy that we could raid his car for a nut.

Re: SE Replica .. THE NEW CHAPTER MrsB
Just trying to update before I announce the next adventure.
Link to Targa High Country with photos http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=44346
Some video from AROCA Phillip Island 12/12/10 - Best time for the day was 2.02, I was pretty happy with this for my first time in the car at PI but there's heaps of scope for improvement here - cant wait until next time, the car (Evil) is awwwwsome
Our next BIG adventure is onto the boat and over the sea 29th & 30th Jan to compete inTarga Wrestpoint. Once again the MX5 is standing in for the the French car which has become an issue we dare not talk about in front of Mr B. This is a bit of a scary one to be going back to, the last time we were there we crashed big time on the Dover stage. The game plan will be the same as the last couple of events. Bring the car & us home in one piece
I think I'll have a couple of issues sorted from High Country, we'll be going back to the 16" wheels, the car is so much better balanced and the gearing is better suited. We'll go for a softer brake pad compound (at High Country we just could'nt get heat into them.)
We ran the track spec suspension with next to no travel. We literally bumped and ground our way around. We've gone with the AFCO set up that Keith Tanner has spent alot of time developing & testing for the "Targa Miata" which Flyin Miata run in Targa Newfoundland.

Your camera set up is really nice, I love the addition of camera facing towards you and the telemetry, it adds a really nice touch
I really do love this car, I look forward to hearing how it goes in Targa Wrestpoint! Are you going to do Targa Tasmania in it?

Re: SE Replica .. THE NEW CHAPTER MrsB
Thanks Ben
We originally entered the Xsara in each round of the Australian Tarmac Championship which is High Country, Wrestpoint and Targa Tas. This is what the car was built for. Unfortunately we have had problems with incorrect parts arriving etc etc. Would you believe that at the moment all we are waiting on is a head gasket. At Targa we can only run on 98 RON , if we use the standard head gasket the compression is too high and we could only run on race fuel. To answer you question I'm guessing we will be back in the Xsara for Targa Tas but then the MX5 has bailed that plan out twice now so you never can tell!

Nice video set up. I know it's probably hard to set up but next time try to get more of the steering wheel and gear knob with the camera facing you. ;)
Btw, what are those lines running across the windscreen? Are they like demisters for the front?

Re: SE Replica .. THE NEW CHAPTER MrsB
Thanks two40
thought I was more interesting than the steering wheel or gear knob lol, only joking it's actually really easy to set up, you can actually preview on laptop or I have small set up screen, I just hadnt bothered from Targa. Next time I might face it out the back window.
Yep the lines are demister, I have them on rear as well. If anyone is considering these they work great but if you can install them before the screen goes in. I didnt hence the uneven spacing. They are much easier on the hard top. In Targa you must have some way of clearing the windows. The car doesnt have any heater or vents.
cheers
Chris

Re: SE Replica .. THE NEW CHAPTER MrsB
Thanks Guys
We had an awsome day today. We spent the first few stagse sorting the new suspension. We started a bit soft then went to hard, now hopefully we're somewhere in the middle. We were glad to get through Dover and gave what some competitors are referring to as Christine's (comedians lol) corner a big wave when we went through.
Longley was very rough with one bump which nearly launched me through the roof. Despite this I really enjoyed this stage.
Looking forward to tomorrow
Chris
Alex I was sooo relieved to see you at Dover, glad you made it. Have fun tomorrow Chris
