Wheels from the US

OK, so i have found some wheels i like from the US that cost $720.00 US (plus shipping), they are from a well known Miata site, will they get through without any major dramas given the $1000 tax free threshold or is there other factors related to wheels which are an issue im not considering?

What is an acceptable shipping charge these days (if anyone has imported some lately) to east coast AUS from the US these days for wheels?

I paid $380 Aus for a set shipped to Geelong when the rate was about Aus 84C to the US $ .Will depend on the weight obviously.

Thanks, im also noticing some good feedback for Good-Win-Racing on here, so im interested in hooking up a deal with them maybe.

We have both cheaper prices and the excellent exchange rate going on ATM, so im keen to make the most of it if i can.

I just got four Enkei wheels about a month ago from Good-Win-Racing. Didn't have any issues with customs, took approx 3 weeks to arrive, can't recommend them enough. Damn near impossible to get enkeis in australia.

I'm going to do just that, Ive made up my mind to go with the rpf1 Enkeis from Goodwin. I'm still mulling over whether to go the more aggressive 35mm offset or the 41's saving a few extra grams in weight (yes im anal like that!).

Any photos of your recent purchase?

I'm lacking a camera sadly but if you scroll through the NB wheel sticky you'll find a BRG NB that looks identical to mine, I will say however that photos don't come close to doing it justice. Don't forget center caps if you do order, I found my read nut thingies whatever you call them are a bit rusted so ordered the caps again afterwards.

No worries, i went with the 41mm offset 15" Enkeis, i didn't order centre caps as they don't make them for the 15's, you need to get Rota caps or similar i believe, but im not a fan of the center caps anyway, i did though order some nice lug nuts with them.

If there's rust in my centres i will most likely stick a coat of black on them.

Make sure that you request them to quote the cost of the goods only on the export form, not the total cost including S&H. My tyres got held up for months because of it since the total cost was over A$1,000 (see my tyre saga, half way down at viewtopic.php?f=57&t=41091&start=30 ).

Also, I think it's worth using FedEx rather than the USPS+Australia Post (see my above saga for reasons why)

I whole-heartedly endorse Good-win racing; they even saved me A$203 in S&H for my Frog Arms which I pre-paid for by packaging them in a smaller box and using an alternate shipper. Most places wouldn't have made that effort. One thing I really noticed when living in the US is that they really do care about customer satisfaction and it certainly does breed customer loyalty.

You did well.The US suppliers seem obsessed with packing things in boxes way too big that cost a fortune in postage so it is always worth asking that they package in a small box,it's certainly not their usual behaviour.

In fact i dont even think they posted them until the day after i paid due to being snowed in, though that would be the 31'st in the US anyway being half a day behind us.

Great service and the wheels look great as well.My NC had then on it in 17x8 when I bought it and I have always liked the Minilite look so originally planned to replace the Enkies, but they have grown on me.
Hope you post a picture when they are on.

Personally i would call Brian directly, the only reason i didn't is because he was actually still on holidays when i made the initial purchase after no one answered the phone, BUT you cant actually use Foreign (non American) credit cards on the payment page, which i found out when it declined me BUT charged my card twice! So my advice is make the initial phone call to fully get your order correct and organise payment which Brian dose through Paypal for us foreigners.

I'm not sure if the email i am currently corresponding with Brian with is the store one or not so im not in a position to make it public on here just in case its his own personal email, but i will say he responds to emails in under 1 minute with me, so hes obviously on a IPhone or something.

BTW if you are after the 14 inch Enkeis for a NA he has some of the super lite flat spoke deep dish wheels with race offsets that look unbelievable IMO.

Also as previously mentioned Brian sends each box individually so customs and tax etc wont be a concern, but it is a bit more expensive, about $25 more.

Brian is usually very prompt with replies but do take into account that it's still Monday over there which is a public holiday and that he may have closed shop over Xmas.

My first order with Good-win was processed by credit card successfully however, as confirmed above, you must now do it via Paypal since they no longer provide credit card access to internationals Usually I send an email of what I want, along with my shipping address, Brian then replies with the S&H options, you confirm the option you want and he sends the Paypal request to you. It's a bit of a hassle but usually takes less that 24 hours.
