Healsville to Kinglake Road

Postby KRM » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:23 pm

We did this road heading to Phillip Island for the interstate challenge.

What a run from Castella to Chum Creek. There were 6 MX5’s (3 towing trailers) and 1 M3 BMW.

I was leading blind but with a very good road surface and the cambering on the corners even those corners that tightened up were still taken OK.

What was great was the fact that there was no traffic heading in our direction and very little coming towards.

Ever one agreed that it was a great drive.

We did this a couple of times this week, at least the section from Yarra Glen and over the Yarra Ranges. Quite interesting at night when it's very dark and raining. No traffic for the most part, plus a few overtaking opportunities heading north, though few heading south.

Going the other direction, heading north then turning right to Toolangi, was also interesting at night in pitch black. Few signs, so you just keep going until you find anything in Toolangi. The Toolangi Tavern was a great stop for dinner, by the open fire on a cold night. Recommended.
