Keen on these as we're really happy with the springs in our car, where are they available from.

Also, where can you get the FM bump stops?

The Koni STR-T had unfavourable reviews over in the US forums. Steer clear.
Stick with Super Pro, ie. don't get too excited about getting harder bushes like Energy Suspension as they are bone-shakers.

My 2c: either get an entry level coilover set like BC or Yellow Speed, if your budget allows. Or go down same path as geofiz and many others and get "cheapy" combination. I found Eibach springs to be the cheapest reputable brand to buy online, and either Tokico or KYB adjustable dampers.

Can anyone comment about the CUSCO Comp-S Coilover Kit. It is a low end model about $1000 from Japan?
Not much known but this is a good price and Cusco have a reasonably good name.

I am a noob when it comes to suspension but I think there are advantages to a budget coilover setup.
As far as I can see the big advantage of a budget coilover is that you are able to tune the ride height as well as the damper settings.

Unfortunately with lowering springs you are stuck with the height that the manufacturer deems appropriate for your car. This may be fine, or it may not be ideal. Probably depends on how much you want to fiddle about with the car. Coilovers give you the choice to change ride height without changing springs.

For the extra money coilovers could be worth while, as I said depends on how much you wish to muck about with the ride height. Probably the most depressing thing would be buying lowering springs and:
1. The car does not sit low enough for you or the rear does not sit quite right.
2. The car scrapes on every speed bump, driving you crazy and steep driveways are fraught with anxiety.

My MX5 came fitted with King springs and Koni Sport shocks (Yellows)

The King springs are very cheap but seem to do the job of holding the car up. I've heard all sorts of things about them but they appear to do the job.

The Koni's I love and I've used on previous cars. They're height adjustable by moving the spring perch between three positions. When I purchased my car they were set to the lowest setting and I moved them to the middle setting without difficulty at home with hand tools. The Koni's give a firm refined ride and have the top mount dampening adjustment.

Best handling increase was from fitting Racing beat sway bars. Quite cheap and a dramatic improvement at the track.

If the Koni Yellows have 3 positions for spring perches, does this mean I can lower my otherwise stock NB on the stock springs by the position of the spring perch? That is, I don't necessarily have to buy new springs to lower the car a bit when I replace the OEM shocks with Koni yellows? Maybe I need to see a pic to understand. Cheers, Mike
