new tensioners soft top
I'm going to order a new robbins top for my NA (with NB glass frames) as the top is torn in a couple of spots. This is the top http://www.gomiata.com/rosucltopwst.html Is it worth getting new tension cables?

Re: new tensioners soft top
I guess its a bit hard to know whether you would need new cables til you pulled the old one off.
I just changed a softop last weekend... the cables in the old top were intact but the plastic sheathing hard worn away or ripped open in parts... at a pinch they could have been reused but there were some better ones in the top that was going on so they were used instead.
I would recommend having new ones on hand, if you can.

I bought and installed a new Robbins one piece top early this year.
I took a punt and ordered new tension cables, it was lucky that I had, because one had snapped and I hadn't noticed.
My suggestion is to spend the extra $50 and buy them. Then install them regardless of what your old ones are like. From memory my top came with a piece of string threaded through the sleeve where the cable runs to assist in getting the cable in place.
It would be a royal pain in the arse to try and replace one later once the top is on the car.
REMEMBER, the cables are slightly different for each side of the car, one is a mirror image of the other!
Good luck with it.
