Spotted you this morning Terry at the intersection near BCF. My workmates spotted you first and were pointing you out to me but didn't realise who it was till i saw the name down the side. However the car looks in pretty good shape and looks much better in person than in the photos. Love the Scooter Decal. Perfect!

That would have been me this morning doing a u-turn at BCF to get some dinosaur juice from Caltex...
Took the beast down to Link International and Sugarless Company to get some stickers.
Here's a sneak peak...

Sh*t, its been a while since I've done any updates on Scooter.
Our little trip down to E/C revealed a few concerns on long straights, mainly that our muffler was turning the boot into a bloody barbie on wheels , seems that the restriction was just a might bit too much and so we ran with just a resonator and no tailpipe or muffler. Obviously not ideal but better than damaging an engine or worse, having a flaming Boags
So on my return to Brissy it was off to the muffler shop and a redesign of my own, going against what the MX5 experts say you must have and the outcome was a nice little increase in RWKW and a decrease in dbs, go figure eh!!!!
Boags has gone over to race with Ash Miller as my work was being a little bit "funny" and I needed to sit back and decide what I want to achieve with Scooter. I've decided to do the local races and maybe the Nats, as I've purchased a transporter to save me having to tow the car down and it worked out cheaper to have a motorised trailer As my health hasn't been too good lately with the cold weather I can come and go as I need and won't be putting anybody else out.
So today I decided to finally fit the big cams I had rebuilt and nitrated, not a great job when you can't bend or your hands are all seized but where there's a will there's a way. Christopher Columbus that made a bloody big difference, the power band comes in at the same time 5200rpm but just belts you in the back and goes like a shower of sh*t, will dyno it again next week but i think I'm definitely over my hoped for figure from when I built the motor, only needed 3 rwhp to get that!!!!!
Fitted the wheels and RSR's from Boags and they have made it a lot better balanced car on the road. So all up not a bad days work, have gained hp and a bloody sore back ( anybody want some Arthritis FREE)
So off the Daybro for an early AM run tomorrow and see how it goes up the mountains
Oh yeah!! 13 weeks with out a bloody fag!!!!!!

Re: tbro's 2nd NA, Scooter's resto
Hey all,
Well took the car down and put it on the dyno and played with cam timing etc and pulled some good numbers and then the sh$t hit the fan electrically and we didn't end up finishing the tune. I was happy with the 127rwhp we started with (on a dyno not known for happy figures) and happier with the figures we were starting to pull by no matter what we did we couldn't retrieve the lost torque in the middle. So cams have come back out and in went a set of JUN 272s until the new bits arrive to up the compression ratio to around 12 to 1 and some more head work.
As I've been pretty crook from just after the dyno not much has happened. But one advantage to not being able to drive or work on the car has been I have the time to actually sit down ( me???) and read and investigate a few thing I've wanted to do for a while. I've ordered a set of new coil on plugs from the States and all the electrical fitting etc so when they turn up that will go on. I've fitted an Automatic throttle body and a new Variable TPS also sourced from the States. I ordered a IAT switch for a RX7 and have fitted and wired it up. I took the tranny out yesterday and will fit the Toda flywheel to see how much difference it makes before we redo the motor. Hopefully I'll have taken a few steps forward and maybe a couple back but that's what development is all about. I'm going to stick with the 1.6l motor as I don't know if I'll be able to race again and if not then it will still be a good road car!!!
I actually thought about selling both the truck (it's hopefully sold) and Scooter but had a thought hard about it and decided that I have spent too much time and effort into making him into a easy to drive and reliable toy to just sell him, and I figure that would be just giving up. If worse case scenario is I can no longer race I'm sure a certain person will take him out and play, until we can get Nick to have a go on the track
So over the next couple of months I'll keep playing and hopefully be ready for next year!!!

Retro 2nd NA, Scooter's resto
Hi all,
Well parts all turned up and I decided to try and fit them all up. Gearbox back in, what a sh8T of a job on your own, between throwing up and swearing I finally got the prick of a thing back in
The new coils turned up and then the plugs came a few days later. Sat down and had me a wonderful time making up a new harness, Then marked the rocker cover and fitted COPS retainers. All pretty like,
The red cover is for the road, the silver is for tuning on the dyno rather than taking it off to adjust cam gears
All fitted and running!!!
Wiring done and igniter gone.
I modified the air intake after testing it's efficiency at Amberley in some fancy test machine, seems the std L/S air box is ok for std motors, but was so restrictive at high rpm 7000rpm and higher it wasn't funny.
New adjustable TPS fitted and now needs to be wired up correctly to the Microtech and then resin fill the plug.
So I'm happy playing when I can ATM and hopefully it will be back on the road before too long.
So on Monday SWMBO is going to the P/O and picking up my pressy to me from the States ( hint!!!!12:1 and other bits to fit them to from PAECO)

Re: tbro's 2nd NA, Scooter's resto
Hey all,
Had a new clutch flex line made up to replace all that bloody stupid steel line and those annoying brackets. Its DOT approved ( not that it matters ) and will go straight from the master cylinder down to the slave cylinder.
As you can see the fitting into the master is a banjo fitting so I will need to file flat the surface fitting area so the cooper washers will seat.
fitted to the slave ready to fit to the car.
Probably not of a lot of use for a street car but certainly worth for a track beasty!!!
If you want one let me know
Terry

Re: tbro's 2nd NA, Scooter's resto
Hey all,
Well Scooters is now in the nude, yep all the stickers race no's etc have all been removed.
and now he looks like this,
So you ask is Scooter gunna race agian???
To be trueful I just don't know at the moment.
I'm going to remove the engine this week ( health permitting ) and WILL do all the mods that I was always going to do.
The car will be left nude until after i've done all the work and has been dynoed and I have the yeh or nay from the docs as to whether or not I can still race again.
If the answer is yeh, then Boags will have to organise some more sponsorship (hint! hint!) and we'll both go racing again. This also depends on how many meeting that will be avail in 2011 for prodsports in Qld.
If Nay, then Scooter will be finished off, suspension finished off, dynoed (to hopefully reach the 150 rwhp I've set for myself) and then will be offered for an EOI.
So not great Chrissy present but then there are a lot of people worse of than me.
