Paint matching indicators (price)

Postby Mr nanotech » Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:56 am

Hi all!

I've been tossing this up for a long time now and I've FINALLY paid off all my bills etc and have a few quid in pocket money to blow. I'm still saving up for coilovers but I know I can't go past this mod.

Basically I'm looking at buying vented indicators but I don't want to run them in the standard urethane black they come in.
I'd like them paint matched to my NA's classic red so it blends in with the body like this image.

For those of you also interested, they are available on Mania for about $180 are are probably the cheapest I've seen advertised.

So the question is how much would it set me back to have these sprayed to match my paint? They come out in standard black urethane and unpainted (ie: garage vary lip). So they will need to be primed for a start.

You could do it yourself.

Sand down the new vents.
Clean with pre-paint
I'm sure someone here will have the codes for that type of red
off you go.

Even a spray can might do the trick. If you have ever watched a show called "wheeler dealers", they always use spray cans and it looks great. As long as the preparation is good its hard to go wrong.

Max cost 20 bucks :) Save for the coilovers.

The code for Classic Red is SU. Might run you a bit more than 20 bucks to grab a rattlecan of undercoat and get a rattlecan of Classic Red made up (I think the last place I went to, to get the SU colour made up was 26 bucks a rattlecan but I can't lay my hand to that invoice now).

Sand it good and make sure its very clean and you should be able to paint it very nicely probably with one can and an afternoon. :)
