Brake issue??

Postby feefam » Sat Nov 20, 2010 2:05 pm

just recently my brakes have been giving me feedback through the brake pedal, i get a knocking feeling in the pedal when i apply the brakes with a mediocre amount of pressure. any advice guys? the brakes still work perfectly fine, im just worried it might become a bigger issue further down the track,

thanks in advance

Phillip

Phillip
By feedback I assume ( Gee I hate that word)you mean that the pedal is pulsating under light breaking, correct?
If so the rear rotors are probably warped and need replacing or machining plus new pads

If the steering wheel is pulsating when brakes lightly applied then front rotors are warped and new rotors or maching required. Always replace pads if the rotors are replaced or machined front or rear.

Fix it now as Brakes seem to be a must have item!!!!

Totally agree with your suggestion , although cannot help but be reminded by Stig Blomquist's famous quote"brakes are the enemy of speed".And for those younger members Stig was a famous Swedish rally driver, initially of SAAB fame, who later became emortalised by the "STIG" on Top Gear.

Get them to a brake shop for visual inspection. Warped rotors pulsate or shudder. Knocking sounds could indicate a cracked rotor. Cracked rotors are not at all good for your safety.

thanks for the quick replies guys, the steering wheel is perfectly fine no shakes no shudders just that brake pedal, there's no sound only that pulsating feeling, guess its off to the mechanics for a check up.

cheers
Phillip
