Show us your steering wheel!

Postby deviant » Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:35 pm

Hi guys. I am looking to buy a new steering wheel for my NA8 LE. It has got the factory fitted MOMO thing but being 360mm diameter is to big for my liking and I dont like the feel of it on track.

What steering wheels have you guys fitted and what size are they? I am thinking I will go for something that is around 320mm and dished...example....

Image

$99 from Just Jap by the way.

Any advice to give?

Oh and what would the MOMO wheel from an LE be worth? It's in good condition but has a slight scuff on it in one spot. $100?

Momo Race 350mm. I tried the 320mm but with no power steering some tight low speed turns were too tough. 350mm gave me a crucial 10-15mm more leg room.

Ooooo the MOMO one is nice! Maybe I will make up a template and see which size I like. The car has power steer but I only really use it on track so arm twirling room is quite important

Nardi deep corn. And no need to buy a boss kit as it fits on all na's with the stock Nardi wheel.

Sparco 330 with 50mm sparco spacer
Is great on the track
Get a fat one better grip

Having the spacer bring the wheel away from knees and a better feel when driving

How tall are you RWF? I am just under 6 foot but my legs are quite long. When I have the seat positioned for my legs and feet to be comfortable I'm to far off the wheel. When I position myself for the wheel to be in the right spot my legs are to crammed in. I think a spacer could be good so I can sit further back but still get the wheel in the right spot.

I'm 1750 and that is why I did the spacer
Gives me leg room and the wheel in the right place

I found the standard wheel to hard to jump on the brakes

Now THAT is a steering wheel I like!

It may be too small for a Clubman and lady driver, I'm not sure.

My pics aren't that interesting but here's what I did upon getting the car - trying three looks:

Standard

Standard, naked

An old Nardi Classic

(and here's how it should look: Bauer's response on this car's Garage Chat thread)

I wonder if anyone has seen a good job of an alcantara-wrapped wheel on a NA?

I have a standard naked one. The one posted in the first post is very nice in a 5 for the price, a mate has one in his na6.

I had a Momo Race in one of my past cars. It is a very nice, quality wheel with a nice section of suede. A lot of people fitted them to their cars.
I do like the Nardi Classic with the brushed aluminium arms.
That $99 one looks a bit cheap. Is the covering leather?

Momo, 330mm. Came with the car, feels good but suede has gone all flat though =/
