Carbon canister...I want to bin it?

Hi guys. In the quest for removing weight from my NA8 track toy and making some space in the engine bay I want to ditch the carbon canister but have a couple of questions.

Obviously I can just pull the canister out but from what I can see on my brief poke around there are some hardlines that go to it? Where do these come from and can I remove them completely and do I need to blank off where they come from?

There are a couple of rubber hoses that go from the canister to a 'block' with an electrical connectior on it...What is this for?

given above, the block with an electrical connector sounds like it might be a pressure senor/ switch.

Well I pulled it out on the weekend, have not run the car yet to see if anything is lucking for the electrical connection.

I have not go to pulling the lines out all the way back to the fuel tank and probably wont. Is it okay to loop those 2 lines together or can they just vent to air?

Electrical solenoid stops fuel vapours getting to the engine while sitting.

The line to the manifold will need to be plugged.
The two from the fuel tank need to vent so pressure can be vented, but also as you use fuel you need to let air in.

Theory is when sittng, all the fumes get soaked up by the carbon in the cannister. When you start the motor, the manifold vacuum sucks those fumes into the engine to be burnt.
Once the motor is shut down you want the fumes captured and not allowed into the engine.

All of this goes out the window for your track car.

Lines will be left un-looped and the vacuum fitting has a blow off valve on it so that takes care of that one. It's great going around the car and looking for things that just fall off :lol:
