BIG MOTHER JDM BACK BOX
Have a stock NB8B system at the moment, and it is a little tame.
This is for all the exhaust nerds. Got it for nearly nothing just because it looked like it might fit. God knows what it's originally come off.
Barrel is about right size, 26cm x45cm. 90mm tip is a bit excessive for my tastes. Ralliart and JASMA can't be too bad, must be off a turbo, 60mm pipe??
Any info would be appreciated. A competent exhaust place surely could adapt. Might get a welder friend to have a go at attempting to adapt, or I might bin it. Dunno.

JASMA = Japanese automobile sports muffler association parts associated with jasma are very expensive to buy new. Jasma means it is made to certain design rules like not exceeeding a certain db and quality metals etc are used
My guess is that it is from a colt but with the muffler you can never really be sure that it isn't from another Mitsubishi.
Enjoy it

Re: BIG MOTHER JDM BACK BOX
The intake pipe looks to be effectively 2.25" which seems to be about perfect for a norm aspirated car. I was a bit worried that I would have to go to 2.5".
With the size of the muffler, do you think that I should go 12" or 15" resonator on the mid pipe? Or probably bugger all difference. I suppose that because the muffler is an unknown quantity the 15" would be sensible or what do you think?

Wait and see what it sounds like before you decide. If its a factory option part it's probably going to be pretty quiet unless the packing is burnt out of it. You should end up charged the same whether the resonator is installed before or after you check hear it while on the hoist. If it's too loud go the 15" resonator.

Re: BIG MOTHER JDM BACK BOX
Just out of interest heres a pic to show how close in dimensions the big mother is to the standard NB back box. I would be keen to install this however I have been advised that you cannot put 'turbo' mufflers on a non-turbo car. So though this would be ideal for a turbo car, maybe not mine.

Lol.
Im with red. Of course you can put any muffler on any car. LOL, what makes it a turbo muffler?
I have a 'turbo muffler' on my NA, and it sounds awesome.

Not to worry.
If you send me a PM with your credit card number, I would be more than happy to do some indepth research and cross-reference the suitability of various mufflers and recommend one according to the closest matching part # of the muffler to that of your credit card number.

Re: BIG MOTHER JDM BACK BOX
Meh, my NB has a "truck baffled muffler" on it.
Turbo cars tend to have larger diameter higher flow mufflers on them, the same exhaust on an NA car can end up being louder because there's not turbo to dampen the sound.
That exhaust is 2 1/4" ? I think my muffler is 2 1/2".

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I run a 'turbo muffler' that you can roll a tennis ball through, with an 18'' resonator. Sounds boss.
Naturally aspirated 1.6 .

Bite the bullet, put it on and then decide. If it is too loud, buy some earplugs
