Has anyone done this? I'm really interested in making my driving position lower as it seems really high compared to my old NA,

Yep
Took about 15mm of the top centre part tapered to the front and a further 35mm flat off the bottom
Also took some off the centre part of the backrest at about the shoulder blade height.
I used a fairly sharp bread knife to slice the foam.
I then used a pair of fence ring pliers and some hog rings to put it together, others have used zip ties with success.
I would recommend taking a bit off at a time, then trying the seat for a couple of days/weeks for fit before removing more.
Worked for me however others have not been as lucky

Another good way to cut the foam is to use an electric knife.
Many years ago, we were making an item that required the foam filler to get cut (we made around 5,000 of these items) and we found the easiest and cleanest way to cut it was an electric knife.
A hot wire would have been better, but it was too expensive to get and set up for what we wanted to do at the time.

there is of course a downside to removing any thickness of foam- you will make a seat that it going to be harder , less supple and that equals fatigue on longer trips. Once you remove it then it is virtually impossible to effectively reverse the process. Whilst it might sound odd the problem with the NB is that it does not suit all builds of drivers and we can be sure that the engineers did an optimum with the design parameters. I am not sure if an NC is better suited to different builds of drivers.

For those contemplating this mod.
I find my seat more comfortable, in fact I don't like the feel of the standard passenger seat when the GLW drives (she uses a cushion as the seat is to low for her)
The revised seat allows me to drive in my preferred position therefore fatigue over long distance has actually been reduced. It also allows me to wear a helmet for when I go to the track!
The process can be reversed if required by refitting the the foam pieces, assuming you have kept them, adding some contact cement and putting it back together.
