Does that mean you have to drive around with the headlights on on a sunny day?

Has it got a new nickname now it's blue?

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Nice job.
A great effort too, not many people are brave enough to take on a paint job like that.

Mate that looks incredible! Most ppl would think that painting a car with a roller would come up dodgy, but thats great!

Thanks for the comments ppl ... I only ended up using less than 1 litre so now I'm left with plenty spare for future cars. ^_^

I may change my mind again at a later stage and go yellow but will leave it as is for now.

Hmmm ... my audio install won't be as major as this paintjob. It's just that the Pioneer splits that came with my car are weary so I have decided to upgrade my stereo.

I just installed new Magnat 5.25" splits last night - my experience is that splits sound better than normal speakers in an MX5.

As for the sub-woofer, I originally was going to install a 4 channel amp to drive both the woofer and front speakers however I came across an amplified 10" sub at WOW hi-fi which were selling them at 50% reduction ($300 down to $150).

It comes with all the wiring and as it has an amp built in, means I won't have to worry about getting an amp then.

Will see how it goes ... not expecting much but I am not an audiophile - I just want some (small) bass to round out the sound.

Here's a pic of me trial fitting the linkman tube - phew! It just fits but I have lost my spare tire in the process.

There is some time this weekend so looks like I'll be doing the wiring plus securing the tube in the boot. Brackets to tie down the tube were picked up from Bunnings tonight but were a bit exxy IMO at $6.50 each - I bought 4 in the end.

FYI ... thought this thread was dead but guess what?

After about 2-3 years of running the blue meanie, I decided to go with my true heart's desire (as I always wanted to) and did another roller job on top of the blue paint, this time in yellow. But I guess a few pics tell the whole story - hope everyone enjoys!!!

Photos probably look a lot better than it should - I was lazy and cut corners ... no sanding between layers and lots of dog hair etc stuck to the paint work.

P.S. Can confirm - yellow attracts more attention and I even got a complimentary beep from a Ford driver of all things on its first outing today! :P

Good work again. That is so close to Canary Yellow (the old police car colour).

I read this thread for the first time today and when I started I thought oh no, he is painting it with a roller but I must say I was impressed with the final result. The yellow looks fantastic with the wheels and lowered.

p.s. love the dish on the works 8)
