NA8 Seatbelt tower brace

Postby Regie » Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:10 am

Hey all

I have a mate with a NA6 ltd edition. I have just sourced a NA8 brace for it.

From what he has said the brace is too shor for the NA6??

I would have thought they would be the same width wise in that area.

Can anyone shed some light?

Cheers

I sold my NA8A one to a guy with an NA6A and it fitted perfectly as far as I can remember.

NA8 Seatbelt tower brace

I'm not completely sure but na8 seatbelt brace don't actually mount to the seatbelt bolt, but to the tower via another bolt. However I noticed the hole in the tower in an na6 is abit small for and decent sized bolt, perhaps the hole was enlarged in na8s?

Peter.

Rex from Ballarat, where are you?He fitted mine to his car.
I am sure that the cars are the same shell and therefore width so if it doesn't fit it must be something to do with attachment.

just took some pics

this is how the bar sits on both sides. I thought it would just be a matter of bolting into the seatbelt mounts

there is another hole under there, which it looks as though it will bolt up there.

Regie,
Just had a look at the brace in my shed, the original mounting bolt length appears to be approx. 65mm (shank only) if that helps at all.
The fact that it has a bolt with it, would indicate that it is mounted separately to the Seat belt mounting point.
Does this mean that you are no longer after my brace?

Correct
NA8's have a captive nut welded into the body so all you have to do is screw down the bolt, whereas NA6's only have a hole so you have to put a nut on the under-side.

There are minor variations in car widths +/- 6mm, as evident when I helped instal the MX-5Plus rollbars into a couple of NA6's and NB8C and NB8B
