I cannot decide, therefore I leave this decision to the masses.

I've got the opposite situation to you, a Ti MSM and black hardtop that needs a re-spray. IMHO, contrasting black hardtops look best on most MX5s but black MX5s only look good with a black hard top.

Hmmm. starting to get the impression black is the way to go. Any opinions of who the best sprayers are near gold coast/brisbane?

In Brisbane I've always used Concord Auto Repairs at Moorooka. Fantastic work at a decent price. My dad and I have picked up numerous best paint trophies due to their work.

no that was me :)

I like a contrasting colour. Someone had a red roof on blue and I even thought that looked good. When I finally find the coin to buy a roof, if it isnt already red it will probably stay the colour it is until I need a full respray.

Having said that, I really do think a black car needs a black roof so consider the vote 100% towards black :D
cheers

Why don't you swap it with someone who wants a grey/titanium top but has a black one atm?

gunmetal grey on black looked great, but that was on a non-mx5 that was more angular body-wise.

Nah, mine NEEDS a respray, has some scratches, and I really like the contrasting black on my Ti.
