hey guys hoping to get some info from the techheads on the forum. (this is new to me)
I purchased a set of secondhand bilsteins off a 10th aniversary mx5 (1999). complete with springs.
I intend to put them on my 2002 mx5 which has standard suspension. would appreciate any comments on ride and height difference. I also have a whitline antisway bar to install. any comments please.

Re: bilstein suspension height differences
How many kilometres do the shocks have on them?
If they have more than 100,000 then the chances are that you will need to get them rebuilt, if the model you have can be rebuilt.
As for the springs, I can’t remember if the NB8B springs were the same as the NB8As in rate. Someone else may be able to help here.

Re: bilstein suspension height differences
On the NA8 Clubman at least the lower spring perch of the Bilsteins meant 15mm lower than standard NA8 ride height. On the Clubman also, the Bilsteins were renown for harshness due to a valving & spring mis-match. My understanding is that wasn't a problem on the 10AE, but would expect the 10AE Bilsteins to still be firmer than standard.
Re: bilstein suspension height differences
thanks 93 clubman. any idea on wether there is a difference in the final ride height when 10AE suspension is fitted to the 2002 stock sus. I am not really interested in lowering my car, but a little wont matter if the bilsteins produce that result just to enjoy the upgrade.,
Any replies or ideas welcome.

Re: bilstein suspension height differences
My advice, shove in the Billies you have and assess/slash drive until you have some more bucks. The ride height difference shouldn't be significant.
If you want them to be better, the you can go through the pain of getting them rebuilt, which will lighten your wallet. Plus add a set of Eibach springs, more bucks.
Best bang for similar bucks would be to source a set of Bilstein PSS9s out of the states whilst the dollar is up. It will probably work out cheaper than a set of TEIN SS's as well.
Any dollars spent would be better thrown at the PSS9 option, as you will get a superior product that will be new as well.
After having four sets of suspension, that's what I would do anyway.

Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.
Re: bilstein suspension height differences
thanks spy, i will consider your advice on the upgrade. but for now will probably just insert the billies i have, now that i know there is no significant difference in final ride height.
cheers and thaks for the input.
