Window Motor

Hi guys,

My window motor always tends to bust and break and it won't work now. It has happened 2 times now it's my 3rd and becoming quite fed up with it.

Any suggestions where i could get another one or even have one that's 2nd hand??

that's not normal.

check the window guides are clean, if they arent it might be causing the glass to stick and overworking the motor.
also look at the cables in the door, apparently they can do the same.

do the windows rise slowly? does the motor sound strained?

if not, maybe get an auto electrician to have a look, you might have something wrong causing them to burn out.

I have not had an MX5 motor apart but usually window regs or headlight motors are able to be dismantled and inspected. Sometimes a motor stops merely because of a poor internal connection eg due to ingress of water or build up on a finger contact. I would agree with HKS that the tracks have to be clean. You have to define the cause- not always easy.

The cable has snapped due to the windows rising slowly and sounding strained...When it snapped, i heard a pop, so assume the motor went too.

Now looking for a new one, and i gues ill be lubbing the fcuk out of it
