Replacing the Bose Stereo on the NC

Hi All,

I've finally got around to replacing the factory bose stereo on my NC.

The mistake which I made was ordering a Face Plate from mx5parts.co.uk. It cost me $100 AUD to supply and ship to Victoria Australia. It is a great face plate however it does not come with a trim, brackets, and is more designed for a single din unit instead of a double din.

I kept my factory bose amp and speakers which sound much better on the Pioneer i brought. They sounded good on the bose also but sound better on the Pioneer. I also kept my steering wheel controls using some device but it wasn't PAC audio as my head unit doesn't have a wired remote input

I didn't go with a built in GPS unit. They are very nice to have built in GPS but no one supports GPS like TOM TOM!!!

hehehe, brightness is highly adjustable.

Just curious... but why didn't you get a GPS integrated unit, would of only cost a bit more and would have enabled you to lose the tomtom.

II got this unit at a good price and i've had a Pioeneer with built in GPS before and the support for it was sh*t. Go to the Pioneer website htey want $300 to update the maps for you.

No one makes GPS and supports GPS like TOM TOM!

ALSO all the double din GPS units i've seen don't have tilt screen and don't have 6 in stacker

Coolies, Yeah Pioneer GPS software/mapping support does suck... Kenwoods one is better from my experience.

Regarding TOM TOM... I was a fan boy for a long long time.. Then iGo8 came out... this is how GPS navigation should be

an add on GPS will be a cheaper option and it is portable.Most of us only require a gps occassionally.A mate used a low priced Ton Tom in Italy recently - maps were cheap and it works a treat. Music is obviously very important for some folks - I prefer talk info and AM does the trick! Have fun Ibiza

I'm looking at replacing the Bose deck also and have my heart set on the new Pioneer double din. What product did you use for converting the the ohm's (i think thats what its called :S) to the Bose level?

Didn't use any product, should be able to connect straight into the bose amp.

Maybe I'm confused

On the big forum, the guys were saying that the Bose is 2ohm not 4 ohm that normal stereos have. Apparantly there is some product that does this and the bloke at the local Autobarn said this too. Probably trying to get some extra coin out of me lol

I don't think we used a line converter, not that I remember. I'm pretty sure we just plugged staight into the amp.
