Well, I've been meaning to ask.

How would the handling be affected if you lower the rear more than the front?"(or vice versa).

Given how low our rides already are on stock, anyone who wants to lower it even more would have trouble scrapping the bottom of the front bumper whenever they navigate over humps and bumps. But maybe if you lower the rear more than the front then it'll make it more 'livable'?

Yes missed that one. Spotted the 2009 date and blind spotted (because my car was too low) the 2010 date.

Seriously though this draft is slightly better than the last one but still not great for us MX-5 owners. It is still mainly aimed at jacked up 4WDs.

The Pros:
Previously you couldn't fit coilovers or anything other than OEM release equipment. Now you can as long as you comply with the height restrictions, which for MX-5s will be the 100mm clearance. This means we will fall into the under 50mm lower category and be self certified.

The Cons:
Spring manufacturers will need to adjust the length of their springs to suit “trim” and ground clearance rather than a specific drop.

In other words King Springs will need to change the NC drop from 35/30 to 19/19, to maintain “trim” height and 100mm clearance. Other springs such as Mazdaspeed and Eibach can’t be used as they create an uneven “trim” height and give the NC a 90mm ground clearance.

Now to await the Final issue of these reg’s.


PS Love the reason that lowering the car effects your line of sight.
I'm over 6' but if you're too short the next thing they will do is ban you from driving because your line of sight is reduced.
