NB 2001+ Sport brakes on NA - parts needed?

Postby zossy1 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 9:08 am

Hi guys,

I am buying up parts to bring home for my NA8 and I have picked up a set of inexpensive 2001+ Sport calipers. I understand they are a direct bolt-on fit for the NA8. Here is what I got:

On the left is one of the front calipers, and on the right is one of the rears. I also picked up a set of 2001+ Sport rotors front and rear, and 2001+ pads front and rear.

My questions is, will I need anything else for the job? Are there any other mounting brackets I need? Will the standard lines mate up to these calipers? I was also thinking about buying a manual proportioning valve - a worthwhile investment?

Thanks guys!
Chris

You need to cut up the dust covers and the proportioning valve is a definite requirement going off a mates car. Otherwise pretty sure they just bolt-on.

You need to change the front brake hoses to the 2001 ones...they are different to the NA ones.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

^^ was going to wait to buy the new hoses until I get back to Oz, because I have heard that the lengths are different between the LHD and RHD cars - can anyone confirm this? The prices for lines aren't that much better over here in the US anyway...

Most of the time I've seen brake hoses for about $75 a line over here ADR approved. The 949 racing ones are $110 for all 4 from memory.

OK, so if people are using the 949 Racing lines over here, then that means the LHD lines fit on our cars... can anyone confirm? I can get a full set of goodridge braided lines over here for $150USD!
