No doubt that & some owners or even autoshops damaging the OEM battery by quick/ full recharging.

You know you can buy perfectly safe calcium batteries for our cars for around $130.00 . John Newalls used to sell them over the counter as an OEM replacement.

RACQ says "Most Calcium/Calcium batteries are sealed and are 'maintenance free' with minimal or reduced fluid loss due to gassing, the fluid level under normal conditions will last for the life cycle of the battery. and also "On average, most quality batteries will last an average of three and a half years"
I am not sure if these batteries offer the same performance ( certainly not life) of a standard MX5 battery- ie cca etc for same dimensions.
The above comment from RACQ also implies that there is some gassing from the maintenance free cc battery. The AGM battery has a vent to external.

Some Calcium batteries have a vent to attach a tube to - how effective they are in venting I don't know, which is why I'd go for an AGM battery (though not necessarily an OEM one) that I could also attach a vent tube to.

I know this is OT, but to the OP, GCM can lick my hairy nuts, nothing but a bunch of uptight spoilt school girls who can do the grinning indian better than they can.

Southcoast Automotive, just on the otherside of the NSW boarder, best service I have had from a dealer yet . Havent tried to sell me crap I didnt need, change parts that didnt need replacing and actually gave trade discount on parts when i asked. They are Mazda/Nissan dealers, used to take my Pulsar there, now take my Mazda6 and have brought parts for my roadster from them.

sorry bout the OT
