as someone who also runs in targa - the other problem with a lot of shocks is that you will boil the damping fluid over longer stages. All of the Penske, Proflex set ups pretty much run a remote canister as well to counter this (most performance bikes these days do as well). If you tap into some of the suspension specialists who are around in dirt rallying - you can get the same thing handbuilt for about a quarter of the price.

Firstly dont give up on your dream but it is a serious event and not for newbies and you need a budget minimum of 20k just to do the event - and that's on the cheap.

Like quite a few people on here - go and join in some club sprints etc. if you want to improve your driving experience - although I personally think dirt rallying experience is much better preparation for targa in many ways than track days.
