the lifter monster is back...or is it?

Postby evil_weevil » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:21 pm

Hey all,
This time it seems a lot louder than before - but besides replacing lifters...whats the best way to reduce this noise?
oil change?

from memory it's louder than last time and even after the car has warmed up, its still there and when you rev it too, it of course gets louder and faster with revs..
is it the lifters?

nothing like the noise from my broken head from last year though!!

I think before replacing the lifters I'd try cleaning them, however this is time consuming & manga_blue reckons it doesn't work as well as using a good oil:

But from some recent posts it seems forumites are having success with Nulon Lifter Free:

how many Km's / high KM's cause wear/ old age causes wear/ ... nothing lasts forever even if you do take vitamin supplements and magic formulations.
