Cabin Sub box

Postby mx5titanium » Fri Aug 13, 2010 6:22 pm

Hi guys, im in the middle of designing a sub box to fit a 8" sub to fit in my cabin. i am thinking between the seats just above of the arm rest so it can still open and close,
but just giving it enough room between the arm rest and rollbar for a snug fit, if any one has seen anything remotely close to what im thinking, please show me some pics or links.
would greatly appreciate it,

hm...just get a slimline?

If you're not trying to have earth shattering bass then it will do just fine (it'll fit neatly behind the seats)

A sub will sound a lot better if you mount in the boot, rather than taking up valuable space in the cabin.

There are 2 "tubes" going from the boot to the cabin to get the bass there and then the boot effectively makes a big sub box.

I have a small box mounted on the side of my boot, which is also easily removeable, and while i only have an 8" sub, the bass is enough to massage your back if you want it to.

Not for an NB but if any NC owners are interested I came across the following.

I'll have one if you feel like making another one. Happy to pay for finished enclosure and freight without a sub.
Shoot me a PM with price if you are.

You can buy something very similiar off ebay. its from the US. I got it for like $140 shipped, back when the the ex rate wasnt even as good. Can fit most 10 inch subs. I have mine reverse mounted since the magnet it big.

Talk to your local car audio store. Anybody with experience in fibreglass should be able to whip up something like that for you with no troubles.

No worries bro, yea thats the one i bought. Give me a call on 0431943575 and i can give you some advice on sub options. I did quite a bit of research on it! Coz its such a small internal volume you must have the right theille small parameters for a sub to work efficiently/have a good frequency response. (im studying engineering and did an acoustics elective) But can give you a run down/list a few good options depending on your amp power.

Cheers
