ignition f*&%ed need urgent help!!

ok so for the last few weeks my ignition barrel/switch (not sure) has been rooted to the point where when i turn the key to start the 5 i then need to turn it back to hit the points to keep the car running.
now, the points have become so worn that i cant use my stereo/windows/wipers at the same time as haveing the car running, its one or the other.
i noticed in manias website that they do ignition "switches" for $200.
now i need to know if this is more than likely to be the problem or if there is another part i dont know about which would be an easier fix.
just dont feel like forking out 200 for ajay to say hmm well i thought that would've fixed it, try this too.
