Pirrelli P6000 195/50/15

I have read several differing opinions on the Pirrelli P6000 tyres let me know what you have expeirienced .

I had a set of these on my NA about 9 years ago. Assuming they are still the same compound etc as my model then dry grip levels were reasonable and they were very progressive when they let go so quite easy to drive on at the limit.

Wet weather grip was sensational. They are probably the best wet weather tyres I have ever dríven on. Even when worn down to the tread wear markers they still had heaps of grip in the wet. They wore at about the average wear rate I get from a set of tyres (25-30k kms). Ride wasn't to harsh and they were much more compliant than the Bridgstone Grid 3's I replaced them with.

The worst part about them was the noise. When they were new they were fine but as they wore they developed a sound like stuffed wheel bearings. I was all set to get my wheel bearings replaced but replaced the tyres and the noise went away.

So if the noise doesn't bother you and you can get them at a really good price then they're not a bad tyre. Though they have been around forever and there have probably been better tyres released since the P6000's came to market.

In my experience they should have been called Pirrelli Ditchfinders. Absolute shat. Thats about all I can say about them.

Have you had any quotes yet? I'm sure there would be much better available for your money.

Err already have them sold to me by a well known and often lauded tyre place often mentioned on this forum , I hope they work out , I certainly won't get another chance to buy more for some time , here's hoping the speil is correct , only had them a few days the car does feel a lot better than before.Thanks for the input.

Worst case if you don't like them, most tyre places will trade tyres in on a new set... The sooner you do that though the better - they won't trade in tyres which are unevenly worn, or too worn...

We went for a 300k drive today and the car was superb ,how much difference does it make with a proper wheel alignment straight suspension parts and new tyres !!! The car handled well but with a different feel to the goodridges that were on the front before not quite as sharp, we had no trouble keeping with the mates Cooper S s along the Bells Line Road , so at this stage it appears good but I think they could be better but will probably do for the way I drive it as I am used to front wheel drive minis with Dunlop Formula R and tweeked suspension. Thanks for all your input we plan on making it to the run in september .
