Kenco 'Giant Microfibre Applicator Pad'

Postby Caffeine » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:59 am

I've been using Meguiars Soft Buff foam polishing pads for years on my MX5, with very good results. Unfortunately the pads I've been using for years are pretty much worn out, so I've been travelling the automotive stores looking for replacements. They seem to be quite difficult to find, as I only found one in an AutoBarn, after trying about 12 different Supercheaps, Repcos, Auto Ones, AutoBarns and Robbos.

So I gave up and bought a Kenco 'Giant Microfibre Applicator Pad', which is designed for hand use, with a little pocket on the back for your hand to fit in. I cut off the hand pocket, attached the pad to my buffer and tried it out. It worked surprisingly well! Soaked up a little bit more product than the foam pads do, but the job it did on the car is as good as with the foam pads.

Best part? $4.99 each, instead of the $35 or so for the foam pads

I would have imagined that an automotive paint supplies business could offer a range of pads. Anyway you have a solution.

I tend to get a few bits from here:

http://www.finalinspection.com.au/store/

the bonus, Damian (the owner) is a great guy to deal with.

not as cheap as some, but his stuff is all good quality. (never used the polishing pads though)

I can thoroughly recommend the Waffle Weave Drying Towel, and Microfibre wash mitt, and Power wheel cleaner.
