16x7 wheels
getting some new tyres in the next week for my car..
atm they are 205 45 16
can i safely put on 215 45 16?
i know the rolling diameter will be slightly bigger but would it be safe to run these on a 7" rim?
I was looking at trying the KU36 in the 215s
cheers peoples

Hi Regie,
A bit over half way down this page from the wheel and tyre "bible" are some handy interactive calculators for your questions.
It shows that you will increase your rolling circumference by approx. 1.52% -and that 16 x 7 is indeed OK for that tyre size (minimal but in the acceptable range).
Go for it, and look forward to a review!
Cheers,
Dave

215/45 will be good.
the 205/45 on 7" is a slight stretch.
Let us know how you go

Re: 16x7 wheels
as said, 215/45 is fine on a 7" rim.
215/45 is actually OEM for 7" rims on Ford Focus etc.

Re: 16x7 wheels
I'm running Kumho Ku-36's 215/45-16 on 16x7s with +40 offset at the moment.
Only had them on the street and only done about 1000km's on them, but they seem to be fine on the rims.
Shouldnt be any clearance issues, well at east not with standard SE suspension.
I've seen people run these tyres on 6.5inch rims at the track, which is under the specification, but they dont seem to fall off.
Also just as a guide, I got mine when Kumho had a special on to undercut Option 1 Garage, so only paid $125 a tyre via Jax in Smithfield.
Currently Kumho wants $170 direct from F-Sport and Option 1 wants $138 a tyre, so try to bring the price down as much as you can as the price you get qouted may be heavily over priced.

sliq wrote:how many kms did you manage to rack up?
on my last set? around 7,000kms and 1 track day they had about 70% left before i was forced to dispose of them.
they didn't seem to wear too quickly on the street, but i only had a properly aggressive alignment on them in the last few weeks of use. the wear after each session at the track however, was quite visible.
