What Simota Air Filter Part Number to suit NA home made CAI

Postby kev.yan » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:41 pm

I know many of you have used a Simota Air filter for home made cold air inductions.
I would like to know what part number you have used and where I can get one on the Gold Coast if possible.
I emailed Simota and they were totally useless to deal with.
Thanks. 8)

I went to auto barn, found one similar by simota, took it to the pimply kid behind the desk and said \"pull out your parts book and find this part.\" Of course, right next to it was the one I wanted. I had it ordered in for me at an extra $8  Bastards.

Sorry, no idea what the part number was.

Thanks for the offer Mr Starlet.
I am building my own unsure of exactly where yet. I have ben toying with the idea of doing a similar set up to Boags but may yet do a cold side version and relocate the maf. The Simota filter will give me the option to go either way due to it having the heat sheild.
I have been trying to find a stockist on the gold coast but so far no luck.

Hey guys!

Reviving an old thread as I still can't figure out which model I need to order as a replacement for the Mania CAI!

So it seems like this is the one - Heat Shield Filter Tall.

But I'm stumped on how the neck dimensions are measured. Is it going by the inside of the rim or the outside? I get about 77-78 if going by the inside, and about 86 going by the outside. Can anyone confirm?

Sorry to revive this thread...again. But I'd like to confirm the dimensions. From the AutoSpeed Article (http://autospeed.com/cms/title_FreeFlowing-a-Miata-MX5/A_110680/article.html) it says the intake side of the filter is 100mm diameter. Is this the same for all the neck diameters for the filter? And since the neck (outlet side of the filter) is 77mm, I'd need a 77mm to 65mm round-to-square adaptor to fit onto the airflow meter?
