Best engine maintenance book

Hello all

I was looking for a maintenance guide for the NA.... I noticed MX5 Mania has a heap of choices. Can anyone recommend a good guide? I will sending the car into the workshop for anything major, but just wanted a decent hand-on guide so I can get a better understanding of that makes them tick....

Rod's published by Veloce. I got mine from Mania and it has proven to be excellent. Entertaining too.

The owners manual is a must. Haynes also do a repair manual for your car.

The Haynes manual is a bit cheaper - can't comment on how it compares since I've only used/read Rod's manual.

The Rods book is USD 33 and the Haynes USD 16.50 from Amazon and buying books on line from the big guys is pretty much bullet proof - the earlier quoted price is a mighty mark up. Libraries often have manuals to borrow but of course a reference book is very handy and there when you want it.

Another vote for Rod's :wink:

Haynes manuals are good, I own a few, but the Rod's manual is the better choice for an NA6 owner.

I was in Pitstop bookshop yesterday, they have a few MX5 books on special at the moment.

Nice bookshop! Shame they are in Perth, but ordering online is fine.... I have requested the Rod's book from MX Mania, but there are some good titles on that website as well, so I will be adding to the library

If you want any Keith Tanner books get them from Flying Miata, if you ask nicely he might sign them for you.

Have ordered the Keith Tanner book (assumed you all meant the "Find It, Fix It, Trick It" book), along with a few others. One of the books I ordered deals exclusively with the history of the MX-5, so I have some reading to do....

I am quite hooked on this little car, despite the comments from my mates about needing to buy a matching handbag....

What colour is your 5? I'll check in my shed and see if I can find my handbag. The new owner of my 5 declined to take the handbag when he picked the car up.

Ha ha - my car is red. I am sure my wife can loan me a matching handbag. I don't give a stuff about what my mates think.Those that have dríven it understand why I like it so much. It is just a raw little fun machine. The ride is a heap bouncier than my new car and you feel like every bump is going to break your spine, but you actually drive the car, rather than just riding around in it.

I have not received the Tanner book yet, so I look forward to learning a bit more about the simple maintenance items. I'll leave the really tricky stuff to the guy at Mazcare.
