It might sound stupid, but try putting a plastic carbie style fuel filter in the line between the vacuum chamber and the MAP sensor. It should damp out a lot of the pulsing.

I have read that else where - I will give it a go, because it is being a nightmare to map.

My carb balancer arrive a couple of days ago. I had used the classic pipe in the ear technique to do the ITB balancing until now. For those who are thinking what is this guy talking about - it involves getting length of pipe and putting it down the end of each velocity stack, listening to the vacuum at the other end and then based on the noise making adjustments.

The pipe technique got things reasonably close, but now the ITBs are sync'd up, idle and initial throttle pick up are so much smoother now.

So if you have ITBs and no balancer, get one - for around $70 it is really worth it.

It is the next round of the sprint series that I compete in this weekend, so I should have some footage of the ITBs in action soon :D

where did you get the balancer from?
I dont care that my laces aren't fat or that I'm not even close to flush and I certainly don't want to be the illest!

I got mine from ebay, the one then ben has the line to above, looks good, especially if you don't have much room, mine is like this.

I have now given the ITBs a good run at the sprint today. It is the first time I have really floored the throttle through the gears. Just to be sure everything was okay, I did a bit of cruise mapping on the highway and gave the car a WOT run through 1st, 2nd and 3rd with data logging on just before I arrived at the venue. I added a bit of fuel in for WOT after the analysis at the RAC driver centre prior to the event starting.

Here's the vid of the best run - unfortunately my zorst is so loud that you cannot actually hear the ITBs that much, you can just hear like a sucking noise from them. I still have issues with part throttle, as you can probably hear - the throttle is like an on/off switch :D



I think I have taken a step forward today, I am about 1 second behind my buddy's S2000, his car is far from stock, but he runs the medium Yoko A050 in 225 and 245 width and I have the soft in 205. The soft compound will be worth some time, but still a result I am happy with.

I like all the fabrication work you've been able to do with building you're own bracing and other components, great work!

After a bit of a break from car work, I have finally gotten around to hooking up my TPS. I have made a wiring adapter, so have not had to chop my stock loom.

I also had to re-wire may Megasquirt PNP so that the TPS signal goes out into the loom and is read. I was a little nervous doing the wiring, but now I have it all hooked up, there is a signal to calibrate in mega tune, so I am happy with that.

I now have to come up with a starting map for the Alpha-N tuning with TPS and then go through the whole tuning process again :roll:

No real progress in terms of the car, other then it is leaking oil more than ever !!

But here are a couple of vids. First one is from the final round of the WA sprint series. I had already won my class so I decided to bolt on my Pirrelli P6000s for some fun.



This is from the raventech racing time attack battle last night. My times were not earth shattering, but I managed to get round the short track in less than a minute (which was my goal) - did a 59.993 on my last run.

Generally the engine looks good inside and the bearings look good in the head, apart from one.

I am going to post a pic in the engine forum for discussion, it looks like it is casting issue. It was the first bearing I took off, and I thought the bearing had picked up and the engine was going to be dead, but all other look in great condition.

I will keep you posted on my progress.
