How do I popped hood look?

Postby Nocturnal » Mon Jul 05, 2010 2:25 pm

Loved the style for ages, thought I'd post asking how to do it as there isn't enough space to just use washers.

Blatantly rippage from JDMST incoming.

I always thought it was just washers?

PM RG.net, he did it previously.
Failing that have a search around on CR.net

I could just be doing it wrong, but I can't get more than two onto the bolts.

That is a high pressure area and will actually draw air in, not help it out from under the bonnet. But if it is just for looks, go for it.

MiataRoadster.com make these, they call them "hood extraction kits".

They are basically threaded washers that screw into the bonnets bolts, and the bolts supplied with the kit is used to tighten the spacer to the hinges

So it's basically a cylinder with two female threads at each end?

That looks really dodgy. It just looks like it's been put together by a neanderthal :frown:

Does anyone one else know why there are indentations, about half-way going across, in the skeletal frame on the underside of the bonnet? Take a look.

I really can't be bothered explaining this SAFETY feature.

Care to comment tbro? anyone?

hehe so when you crash, your bonnet would not guillotine you and go v shape (reverse v :))... i reckon it is a possibility that if you have an accident with the bonnet's ass sticking up, it might go through your windshield and possibly through you....

The easiest and cheapest way of getting the rear of the bonnet to stick up, is to open your bonnet when you're doing 60k's.
The wind will take care of it, or alternatively, reef the bonnet open past it's limit and you'll bend the hinges enough to raise up the rear of it. :P
