supercharging an NB 1.6
I may well be wrong here, but I think the 1.6 engine in the NB's is actually the 1.8 engine with a smaller bore, or shorter stroke, and is not the engine in our NA's so it's more than likely that the 1.8 kit would be a perfect fit.

supercharging an NB 1.6
16bit: thnx, i send them an email. is your car NB6? i noticed u got a rotrex on it. hows that working for u?
benny: as far as i know they have different manifold, different injections positioning, different stroke, bore etc. i'm pretty much sure my engine is the same with the NA6 at the 94-97 models.

supercharging an NB 1.6
i emailed them but didnt get any reply. my choices are limited to ffs coldside, rotrex or turbo. i've almost decided to go for the coldside kit but the only issue i have is that will it pass the emissions test at MOT? anyone that has it can give us some more info?

Sounds like you need feedback from UK MX5 FFS Coldside owners, if you're in the UK that is, or the MOT is the same in Cyprus.

well if the emissions are legal in uk then they will be the same in cyprus i suppose. i've read pretty much good feedback for the coldside and its price is tempting

They could probably put one together to fit but the question remains mp62 or mp45
also Moss originated in the UK AFAIK so you could give them a call

alex thnx for the link, i think i checked that before and that kit fits only on 1.8L
i'll agree with broady, mp62 seems to be much more efficient than m45. it seems that at this point -even that i prefer hotside- the best option in market is the FFS 1.6L coldside kit. the only con is the complexity of installation, something that is important for me in case i wanna remove it for inspection.

NB6 is a B6 motor not the BP found in the NB8.
Main differences between an NA6 and a NB6 are the pulleys and the intake manifold. That said the supercharger pulls off the aircon/powersteering belt so it shouldn't make a huge difference I would suspect.
When I finally finish building my supercharger setup I will be using the intake manifold off a NB6 so there will be little between them.
I'm building a custom setup with a supercharger from a Mini Cooper S so the whole kit will be unique by the time I'm finished.
A few guys on the mx5nutz forum in the UK have worked out the measurements for the supercharger mounting bracket if you choose to go down that line. Mine will be of a different design but similar. I'm just trying to solve my belt tensioner issue because unlike most of the kits I don't have power steering.
