I don't like the idea of adding bits that aren't suppose to be there to get around a problem, and Im not having a shot at you.
I believe in doing the job properly and then you only have to do it once which I think is what JBT means
If you get a suitable lowered spring that is legal now and fit that, then you won't have to change them a couple of times.
The problems with those spacers is that if your aiming for 20mm then thats a lot of bolt you won't have and that can create a lot worse problem.
You could possibly get a cap made up incorporating a spacer in built that would allow for the normal amount of bolt, but that would probably be as much to get made as new springs.
good luck with which ever way you go.
Cheers

Yes it can be shocking to see some of the cars which are allowed on the roads up here. Just yesterday I saw a Leyland P76! They should be outlawed.
Hmm well maybe if you read what I was saying properly... Sorry I'm not trying to be condescending here but I can't help but feel people keep missing what I'm trying to say.
Yes I want to swap the springs to the originals so I can clear the defect. But no I don't want to go straight back to the 'defective' ones. I was hoping people could point me in the direction of something like that suspension spacer posted somewhere up above. Something that will raise the lowered springs up about 2cm so I WON'T incur further defect notices in future!!!
God... Maybe I'll just sell the springs about look for another set that sit a better height... Thanks for your input
I didn't, and neither did anyone else, say that you were wanting to swap springs to get the car passed, and then swap back to the other ones. Perhaps you should read what I was saying, properly Adam_NAclubman made that suggestion, straight after which, JBT made his comment, to which others then agreed with JBT. I was simply trying to smooth things over and clear things up around here, because obviously some people here took comments the wrong way.

Haha, Yeah tell me about it... I don't know what to do at this stage. I'm looking at getting a new set of wheels right now so I suppose I'll put the stocks back on until then and see how fitment goes. Car may be too low and tyres could scrape guards. At this stage, I just want to clear this defect and worry about springs later. Though it does suck going back to stock height, na's sit so high.

Depending on the type of shock you are running you could do as I did (with my konis) and have a set of adjustable height spring seats made up - expect to part company with a bit of coin to have it done though.

How about this???
I know nothing about fitting or removing them, but they're cheap and you don't have to remove anything to add these to raise the car.

Re: Busted for too low
I suggested getting another set of s/h shocks to put the standard springs on and just swap that because its a quick job and once they're on the shocks you don't need to f around with spring compressors to get the whole lot in and out as far as I can remember, because nanotech said he didn't want to swap the springs... doing the whole assembly is quicker, easier and doesn't involve that moment when you're wondering if the spring compressor is about to fly off and take your head with it. I'd still think about having a spare stock spring assembly on hand even if you do replace the super low springs with slightly higher ones, the more stock you can make the car look when getting the defect cleared the better, and you never know if you'll get done for other things in the future (like oil leak from the CAS etc, not just modification related things)

nanotech wrote:Yeah that's exactly what's happening. Should have seen what I saw last night. Drove to the station to pick up a mate, nearly 2 cars on EVERY street the whole way there had been pulled up. I'd never seen anything like that before, on such a huge scales. Could see flashing lights in rear view and infront of me!!
Unfortunately I got bailed up too.
Oh and the 100mm is apparently 'fully loaded'. That I didn't know either... The officer was nice about it, but even so. I didn't expect to be pulled up, there are waaay lower cars in Geelong than mine (try every friggin Commodore..)
This always annoys the hell out of me. They say "fully loaded" but then they dont even load the vehicle to its maximum amount to measure it...it sounds like your car would have failed anyway but if they are going to say that at least be fair about how the car is loaded so we can work to a decent set of regulations and guidelines.
This happened to me here in WA. I imported a Toyota MR2 that had been fitted with the factory option TRD adjustable shocks and springs. It went over the pits and just passed the ride height test. The inspector then said "hmmmm looks to low" even though it had just passed. He then asked his morbidly obese assitant to wobble his way in to the drivers seat which he achieved by resting his stomach on the steering wheel and keeping his right leg outside of the car. The inspector then measured the ride height on the drivers side of the car only and failed it!

Re: Busted for too low
IMHO, about the easiest thing you can do to get your car up a bit, is to fit tyres with more sidewall height.
Get your new wheels and tyres, then put some cheap, 2nd hand 70 series tyres on your stock rims and use these for the inspection.
That should raise it up a few cm's and it is easy work you can easily do yourself on a moments notice.
