Koni / Kings options to buy, import etc

Postby Robbo107672 » Tue May 25, 2010 10:39 pm

Hi vic members et al,

I'm back after 12 mths without an mx5, third mx is a 93 Aus delivered NA6.

Having installed King/Koni's on my first MX-5, I'm after a set for this one.. I've been recalcitrant in reading the forums since I sold the SE so wondering what is the best option to import or otherwise get the best deal on a set of adjustable Koni / King combo. Would be open to discussion on KYB's or similar if that's still a good option?

Looking forward to getting out again !

Koni / Kings options to buy, import etc

King Springs are made in Queensland, you know that though, right?

From a bit of research, I found that Koni's, pound-for-pound, are one of the most expensive standalone dampers out there, although the Koni coilovers are good value at around $1,200USD (from memory).
Koni has introduced a new entry-level, non-adjustable damper called (I think) "ST", stay away from them as the US boys tried and hated them. Stick with the "Sport" yellow whatever it's called now.

KYB AGX are still one of the cheapest available and lots of "fast" drivers are still happy with them.

Eibach springs are actually very cheap for a complete set of four, I think I found a reputable seller on eBay selling them for around $180USD, and shipping around $40USD.

If you trawl through the forum, you'll find quite a few people who have bought BC coilovers and are very happy with the value/performance of them at around $1,200AUD. I'll certainly have them on my shopping shortlist next time 'round.

Sorry I missed your post... I'm looking to get a set of KYB non-adjustables and Kings at this stage but still researching.

Hi there,

We have one set of Tein S-Tech springs left for NA6/NA8 on special at just $250 (RRP $360).

These are a far superior spring to King Springs at an even better price!

We can also possibly help you source Koni shock absorbers. PM us for a price on these.

Kind regards,
Peter Uther
