Emanage and Miata MAF problem

I have a UK 1997 Mk1 (NA) 1.8 and have problems fitting an emanage blue.

I cant get the MAF connected, the white wire on the emanage is supposed to go to the sensor and the green to the ecu, all the jumpers are set at the factory settings. Here is the air flow wiring diagram with the ECU pin outs.

As you can see there are only really 2 ECU pin outs to choose from, 3K is the air temp and 3B is where I need to connect.

I cant connect my emanage to the MAF wiring on my ECU. I have tried setting the pots to 3-A-0, 3-A-3 and 3-A-C. I have even tried fitting the 1K resistor just in case that was the issue but, I still cant get my car to start with the MAF plugged into the emanage. I have even tried a new Emanage unit just in case mine was at fault.

Every thing runs okay with a Greddy 3bar sensor fitted and I can tune using that, but I cant understand why the engine wont fire up when the MAF is wired in. Can anyone help?

May not be relevant, but the NA6 AFM, & I think the NA8 MAF, have a built in safety switch which cuts fuel if the NA6 ?/NA8 hotwire isn't registering air flow.

that was my thinking, but my understanding is you're having the problem when you run oem ecu, emanage & MAF (not when running oem ecu, emanage & MAP). this suggests emanage deconflicts for the oem ecu when running MAP, but when trying to run emanage with MAF there's a conflict unless emanage is reconfigured, i.e. jumper/s or similar changed.

Thanks for the reply. I read the post, but it refers to the AFM found on the 1.6 models (flapper). Mine is a 1.8 and uses a MAF (hotwire). I have tried disconnecting the MAP and running with the MAF, but my engine will not start. My engine turns over and if the Emanage is set to 3 - A -O, it will start perhaps once in fifty turns and then will cut out.

When using the Emanage software, in the parameter settings in the pull down window at the top where it says MAF type, What should I be seeing in the parameter window?

Today, I went over my wiring again and rechecked the jumper settings on the Emanage and I still cant find the problem. I managed to get it started with the MAF connected, but it was running very rich and as soon as I pressed the accelerator the car stalled and would'nt start untill untill I took the emange out of the loop by reconnecting the MAF/ECU wiring.

This is really starting to bug me as everything works perfectly if I just use the MAP and ignore the MAF altogether.

appreciate yours is a 1.8 & so uses a MAF - my suggestion was that the same or similar principle applies to the 1.8 as for the 1.6, even though 1.6 AFM wiring is 7 pin v 5 pin for 1.8 MAF. Seems academic now as it sounds like you have too much fuel & not fuel starvation. I 'don't know enough about the emanage to suggest a solution, but I'm sure there's someone around here that would. Maybe try searching 'emanage' on here & Google for a writeup?
