hi,
My car has started making a little knocking or scraping noise that speeds up with road speed.
I have had the car on the jacks and check the brake pads, and spun each wheel, typically you can feel a wheel bearing vibrating if you put your finger on the coil spring, but it also depends on whether it is the outer or inner race of the bearing that has the wear. I did not feel/hear anything on any wheel
I also had a look at the CVs and prop shaft and they look/feel fine.
I still think it is a wheel bearing, just wondering if anyone else can talk from experience and help confirm this diagnosis before I pull the car apart and go and buy a press.
Thanks Guys
Si.

Solved
I have a badly flat spotted front tyre, must have done it a the last sprint event.
Ready for some new tyres anyway.

That'll do it, glad you found the problem pity it's not a cheap fix. You were planning on getting new tyres anyway weren't you?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Speed related knock - Wheel Bearing ????
When I read your post I was going to ask if you had been on track and had a lock up. One of my road tyres has got a flat spot on it but nothing as bad as that! In fact you can barely tell where it is but you can definately hear it. It's not as noticeable now it is on the rear and I'm hoping it will wear out quite quickly.
Flipping annoying when I'm driving though...slap..slap..slap..slapslapslapslapdrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Yeap, needed new tyres, the R888s I have are all past the legal wear marker. I have gotten over a year of motorsport out of them, so happy enough.
Yoko A050 205/50/15 in soft compound are going to be ordered tomorrow
I know they are better than the R888, but hope I can get more that 2 events out of them
