(the v6 one is actually a little better as it flows a bit more oil).

Sound like a good little mod for the stressed engines, does it fit the various different motors or just the 1.6?
Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.

C'mon Ampz, I'm just prodding the trolls a bit :D

I now have 2 x oil filters sitting in the garage. I had a little courtesy visit yesterday afternoon, and I seem to have forgotten to hand the wrong filter back. I suppose that's my fault too? I did however make sure I checked the box, and even pulled the filter out (just in case) for an inspection to be absolutely sure it had the same numbers as what the box said, now that I know that's my job.

AJ, Up for an oil change and a quiet one...or four?

Not sure I don't have a 1.8, but the thread size/pitch should be the same, the mating circumference is where you need to pay close attention to but i think it should be fine.

I've got one on my mum's excel right now (didn't have another int he garage last oil change) and the lifter noise goes away quicker than with the Hyundai filter (under 2 seconds compared to 5).
I've noticed it also has the one way valve so it doesn't drain dry with the engine off, probably why the lifter noise on startup is reduced.

Not many trolls left on this board anymore that I've found :oops: :(

Agreed AJ, get her on the blower, or better still FACEBOOK. That's where Mummy lurks!

Just gave Malibu a wash, changed the oil (and filter) and went for a short run up around the twisties near me.
I've had this car nearly ten years, and it still keeps giving back so much more than you put in.
I just love it to bits. It's perfect. :mrgreen:

All B, K, Z and F series Mazda engines use the same fitting filters. The sizes will be different, but the 20x1.5 threads and round o-ring seals are the same.

B3/1.3 B5/1.5 B6/1.6 B8/1.8 BP/1.8 (I4 engines from 90s 121s, 323s, MX5s).
K8/1.8 KF/2.0 KL/2.5 (V6 engines from 30Xs, 323s, Probes/Pumas).
Z5/1.5 ZM/1.6 (I4 engines from late 90s 323s).
FP/1.8 FS/2.0 (I4 engines from 98-03 323s).

Most SR Nissan, 4G Mitsubishi and B1 Honda engine filters are all the same also.

I use the bigger Z79A filter on my Astina fitted with a BP engine. regular filter is normally the Z436.

The Z436 is also listed in the catalog for use on the 13B RX-7 & RX-8 as well. With the ease in the RX-7/8 engine bay for doing an oil filter change since it on top a tube (envious NB owners anyone?), why they don't list the Z79A instead though is beyond me since it's slightly cheaper & bigger then the Z436.

Interestingly, putting the Mazda OEM filter part number into Ryco's cross reference checker returns a result for Z445. A filter that costs $19.95 at SCA is 2mm smaller then the Z436 lol..
