Woot, engine change time today. I'm sticking with Gulf Western (The Tough Australian) Premium Gold as usual (GW recommends this one anyway for BP turbos). I can't fault it in anyway. If I were going to track it often, I'd probably choose a higher hot viscousity for more shear resistance like w50, but for road duties the 15w40 is excellent in the Mazda GTR. Personal experience I'd say GW 15w40 is better then Castrols GTX3 15w40 & even Motuls Turbolight 10w40. I schedule the changes for 6500Ks, or 5000Ks if I've been using the big turbo a bit.
I don't care what other people use really, but I would love to see more people use Aussie made. After all, if you happened to be working for an Aussie manufacturing business, you'd want people to buy the products to keep you employed?
We've lost Bonds, Bridgestone, Mitsubishi etc. Tectaloy might be next, maybe Hill's Industries too. One day we might only have supermarkets, clothes shops & admin offices. Although I'd guess Nulon, Penrite are probably doing quite well for the time being.
Which engine oil do you use

Oi, your engine is the wrong direction!
Regards Gulf; does the oil come from Aussie wells? (Or did it float up from the BP spill!)

But my engine powers front & rear wheels!
I don't know where GW gets their base oil from. Their bottles have the "AUSBUY Australian Made & Owned" badge on them though. They definately don't have the same market presence as Penrite though disappointingly. I think they mostly supply industrial machines like mining trucks or crop tractors etc. Not many of the usual car stores stock it, as opposed to the masses of Malaysian made Castrol stuff heh.
I spose BP need all the profits from Castrol till they fix that damn leak ey.
