iPhone + NC Bose audio solution?

I've been looking for something that will allow my iPhone to connect to the Bose headunit on an NC. I have the factory iPod link installed, but it doesn't work with the iPhone at all. MX5parts told me that the audiolink wasn't compatible with the iPhone, so the only thing I've been able to find is the GromAudio link, which doesn't say whether it's compatible with the Bose unit.

I mostly use the iPhone for podcasts, and I suspect that the steering wheel controls won't allow me to do anything with them anyway, so all I really need is the ability to plug my iPhone in and have it charge while it pipes sound through to my system. I don't want to go down the FM transmitter route, because the quality is generally too terrible, and suffers too much from interference, which means fiddling with the phone while driving; not something I want to do.

Is there a decent solution for getting an AUX-in or iPhone connection to the Bose HU?

Have you thought about buying an ipod as a workaround? Might be a cheaper/easier option. You can usually pick up a nano second hand for not too much.

my guess, and it is an uneducated guess, is that the Bose system doesnt give the right voltage for charging the iphone and simply doesnt like to play either.

as suggested, an ipod nano can be had for an easy solution.

I would also look into changing the ipod connector for a standard aux connector that would allow any mp3 player to work. That should be a cheap solution too and involve unplugging the existing cord from the back of the head unit and plugging in a new one. Still wont charge your phone but will only use the headphone jack therefore leaving scope for a ciggie lighter type charger if needed. Downside is that it isnt using the quality of the phone to its fullest as it is only using the headphone jack to output the sound. Perfectly fine for most of us and more than enough for podcasts but isnt being the best it can be.

I'll look into the idea of an aux connector. I have an iPod nano, but it's annoying to have to sync that with my computer as well as the iPhone, and then have the frustration of not easily being able to continue listening when I leave the car, unless I take the nano with me as well. If I can't figure something else out, nano will have to be the way...

Anyone have any experience of the Gromaudio one?

I have the Mazda bluetooth kit fitted to mine, it quite happily plays the music from my iPhone via the bluetooth link
