Has anyone any pics of Sportmax XXR on an NA?

Postby gussy » Wed May 26, 2010 9:39 pm

Found these on ebay and it turns out they would be perfect for my NA6. However, has anyone any of pics of them on their car to give me an idea of what they look like?

Would I need 195 or 205 tyres for 15 x 7 wheels?

Search is your friend.

Careful though, as both the picture I've just posted and the link that slug_dub posted show the 15x8 +0 versions.

195's on a 7" rim will fit, but will be a little stretched out, and the rims will stick outside of the tyres.

205's are a perfect fit however, and 215's or even 225's will fit well.

My 195 Adrenalines sit just fine on 7", however Adrenalines seem to be a bit wide because my 205s on my old 7.5" rims weren't too stretched either.

I would go for 205/50R15 though, which has the added advantage of correcting your speedo.

I've always loved these Sportmax. If I had spare dosh, I'd be getting a set for my Clubman.

Be careful-with that offset they may not fit under (unmodified) guards.
I have a set of 14"x 6.5" Watanabes with a 21mm offset and they sometimes hit the guards on bumps when turning.

yep, roll your guards, bit more camber than youd usually have and it should "fit" sweet.

Feel bad jacking this thread but it makes more sense posting here where questions have been asked than creating a new one when there is a preexisting that could be a good go-to reference for others.

Anyway I too am looking at retiring my 14x6.5 +35 (i think) Watanabe's for a set of the same Sportmax 513 wheels shown here (but with the middle black).
I want the 15x8 which has been shown here. Car will be lowered so I'm wondering about the process of fitting them is.

I noticed the black one doesn't appear to have guards rolled and seems to have pretty minimal camber on the front compared to other cars I've seen. The site says aggressive fitment with na miata. I have an na and looking very seriously at buying these wheels and would really like to know what tire size would help fitment and how to go about adjusting camber and what rolled guards actually look like.

I've been searching the forum and I can't find any pics of cars with their arches rolled. I've seen people who've lipped them and so on but not an actual arch roller to flare out the inside. Also will that change the fitment of the front bumper (since will have gv lip). Want car to sit like the black one joe pulled up.

And and thank you to the OP for this!

That black car above has had the guards pulled out front and rear.

okay to fit any sportmax 15x8 +0

You will need roll/pull
Negative camber
and 195/50/15

It will fit.

And this is what rolling does.

Thanks! How much does guard rolling cost and how can I adjust the camber?

guard rolling is about around ~$50 a corner- so $200 all up.

Depends how low you are..neg camber can naturally set itself. But if it's not enough, go to wheel alignment place to get more camber.

i have 15x8 rims and there was no need for guard rolling.

the clown that did it told me that it was hard due to the creases, joins etc in the guard - i think he was just reasonably inept.

can show you some pix of my guards - most of the motorsport group have seen em and had a giggle. if u are going to get your guards rolled, factor in paint and panelbeating.

Yeah I think i remember your car. The guards flare out towards the road rather than in towards the car from memory. Hmm... paint didn't actually cross my mind to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what an arch roller looks like and how they work so I'm pretty useless with this.
I have a number for a guy who does this but I've been warned by quite a few people to watch who you go to because a lot of people are sh!t at this and it's irreversible if they f**k it up.

I'll have to wait until I get the wheels first. I'm either getting the XXR 513's or a set of Superlite GTR's. Both are 15x8 with very low offset. From memory the GTR's sit out further than the sportmax. Think it's about 2mm outside the guards. So either way i'll have to do something about this if I want to drop the car lower than the obnoxious stock height.

***EDIT***

Want to trade my set of RS Watanabe 14x6.5 +35 wheels for a set of either 15x7 or 15x8 Sportmax XXR 513 wheels. If anyone is interested, plz PM me!!!
