Split heater hose

Morning all,

My hose shown below as the "to heater" has split. I went past my local Repco and Autobarn but both say that they only have the main radiator hoses listed for the NA and NB. Tried my local Mazda dealer but their service desk was closed.

Anyone know where I can get one or a part number or something?

Hi Jeo, I both of mine at the same time. Mazda part numbers are NA7561211 and NA7561212, I can't tell from the invoice which one is which though, but hopefully this narrows it down for you.
The reason mine went was that the CAS O-ring was leaking a tiny amount of oil, and that perished the rubber, but that's probably not an issue with the NA6.

Be VERY careful when you are replacing these hoses, the fitting that runs through the firewall is made of a very thin and weak material, (copper or brass from memory) and will crush or split if you get too physical trying to remove the hose. I found it best to just cut the old hose off to limit any damage that you can cause.
Probably a good idea to get a decent hose clamp for it too while you're at it. The spring type are a bitch to use, I found long nose pliers and a screw driver to lever with were the best thing to get them off.

Joe,
If your desperate go to Repco and get a inlet manifold heater hose from a 202 holden motor, its one of those hoses that can get you out of most problems concerning heater hoses :lol: :lol:

Next, to order heater hoses try http://www.autolinkmx5.com for kevlar reinforced hoses. I did a GB a couple of years ago and they are a good product and I even use them on race cars!!!

from the diagram I have here, it is NA7561211. Though I'd do both at the same time.

Ooo... My radiator top hose doesn't look like it's long for this world so the full set of six hoses from there could work.

Seeing as mine is a 93 NA6 with an NA8 engine, any thoughts on whether I'd need the NA6 or NA8 set?

BP set, the biggest difference in the hoses between B6 and BP would be the bottom radiator hose.

Don't get silicone hoses unless you're also going to buy T-bolt/constant torque clamps because you can't get secure clamping with the OEM spring clips.

x2 for a full set of hoses from autolinkmx5, one of the 1st things I did for my roadster was replace all the coolant hoses with their kevlar ones, only had to trim one slightly because it was too long, but excellent product. I also replaced the 3 small diameter hoses that run in the idle circuit(i think) as well. good price and the delivery was fast.

Are you sure it is (only) the hose? I just did a radiator core, and it ended up being very painful ... :(

Radiator top tank went just before Christmas so the whole thing was replaced with an aluminium one. The top radiator hose used to be pressed up in an odd angle due to my old intake and it's certainly showing signs of stress now.

Sort of on topic: I had the faintest smell of warm coolant every now and then on a drive.

Had a bit of a poke around this afternoon and found this:

Assume its the same size as a heater hose, I might buy one and chop it up. Are those kevlar hoses easy to cut?

Yeah they are easy to cut, "Kevlar hoses" are really just kevlar reinforced instead of what everelse is normally used to reinforce coolant hoses. A sharp craft or stanley knife is all you need

Miniature hijack here,

How hard is it to get to those clamps where the pic above is taken, i have a heater core leak that ive bypassed and ive assumed it was a broken heater but it could very well be those?

the original hoses have probably lasted 17 yrs...? I would guess the hoses are maybe reinforced with fibreglass open weave. All rubber is not the same- OE spec does get checked but aftermarket could be anything and probably sourced where it is cheap. The hose clamps shown are a common type been around for a long time- not sure which are the best but in some situations too much clamp force is not good. OE probably use spring clamps because they are quick to fit and likely cheaper than those with a screw.

Yeah you can buy those hoses in lengths, then you just cut it to the length you require. I did all mine last year and replaced all the spring clamps with the screw-tight ones. Auto shops sell both.
