I didn't ask about the grade of the synthetic oil used for the gearbox, but I should call and find out.
I doubt if you could call the Sports Tuff "heavy"? I honestly couldn't feel much difference, really.
I do have big feet though...

NB8A Exedy Sports Tuff...
I was just wondering, I am going to change my gearbox oil soon and are trying to find the best oil to use.
I have heard some good things and bad things about Redline, and a Subaru mechanic I know said it not good for the gearboxes on subaru's.
I did read on here somewhere ( although I can't find it now) where a forumite had his clutch replaced and they noticed leaking seals on the gearbox, when they changed the seals there was a huge amount of gunk/sludge in the box from the Redline oil, so they cleaned it all out and changed to a different oil.
cheers
Dale

Thanks MR M,
I did see that topic, but it wasn't the exact one I was searching for, and I don't want to take this thread to far off topic also.
But thanks for the info
Cheers

I've heard mixed opinions about Redline as well and think it may be better for the track, and perhaps regular changes to flush out any build up of shite?
My mech just told me that my gear box oil was black and not really doing much. It was replaced with NULON 75/85. He also said that with the state of the old oil I may be better off to flush it and fill it back up again after a few weeks. I think I will do this as I want them to flush out the diff oil as well, as it has probably turned into black glue too.

That was my gearbox you're thinking of. I miss the shift quality of the Redline oil, but I think the box will last longer without it. It may be fine to run if you change the oil regularly, but that would be very expensive to do. Castrol Synthetic gearoil is the best alternative.

Thanks Big Dog
It was your gearbox I was thinking about, your post was very informative, I have also heard that Castrol Synthetic Gear oil was very good.
Is that what your using now?
Cheers
