Postby charlie_91 » Tue May 04, 2010 2:32 pm

Hey,

Im just wondering if its possible to change a 2 way lsd to a 1.5 way.. How much is it and what would be needed ?

Is a 2 way diff to much for track work ?

Cheers guys

What sort or brand of LSD?

If it is a Mazdaspeed factory LSD it would be possible but you would be better off going and buying a Cusco or Kaaz because it would cost as much to machine parts or the case to make it 1.5way.

A 2.0 way is ok for the track but will lock up under brakes that can create a bit of understeer, depending on how tight it is, a 1.5way wont be as severe under brakes so would be better. It just depends on whether you like a bit of understeer or not.

I reset the breakaway on RX7 Mazdaspeed LSD's all of the time (exactly the same as the 1.8lt MX5 LSD) but I generally dont like resetting them much above 45-50lbs of breakaway, on my bench, because if you do you it generally ends up making the car understeer. Yes it means the LSD needs to be stripped and reset every couple of years, depending on how much work it does, but it will make the car a lot more drivable.
