I use this stuff on my forester and it always feels much better afterwards. I might give it go on the 5.

Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner review...

apparently with either the design and/or metallurgy, the Subaru "boxer" engines' intake manifold builds a layer of deposits rather easily, more so than conventional in-line engine manifolds.
Subaru dealers spray in a can of this stuff every minor service.

Hmmmm.... maybe this is part of the reason why a lot of new cars' manifolds are made of plastic?

Shoot some video Andrew.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not a great deal. Probably 1-2 seconds worth of white smoke?

I only use 98 unleaded, so I wasnt expecting much.

All done and everything went well.

I'm a little disappointed that we didn't fill the street with smoke although that is good I suppose

I also put replaced the old Iridium plugs with some new ones along with changing the oil and all seems to be running very throughout the entire rev range.

Funny thing was whilst using the Subaru cleaner my car started to sound like a Subaru boxer engine :) -

Not much smoke at all! Thanks for taking the time to video it. So you give this product the thumbs up?

No worries :D

Yes.

I will have to take the car for more of a drive tomorrow and see how it performs, a cold start will also be interesting.

Even prior to the oil and changing the plugs the engine felt alot smoother and idled better.

I'm assuming I use the same intake to the manifold for the NA8 as showned on this NB photo?

I just bought a can of the stuff. I'll give it a go on the weekend when I can get a hand doing it (the whole putting the stuff in the engine at the same time as keeping the engine alive sounds challenging if doing it alone).

Not really, I just grabbed the throttle with one hand and sprayed with the other.

That said, an extra person will make it easier again.

That'll do it. Then again, I was also going to clean my air filter whilst I was at it, so having some company whilst I wait around for it to dry won't go astray.
