Postby sprx3 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:10 am

around mid 09 i was bored & given a set of headlights that had been taken off a car years ago that was involved in a front minor, the tabs had been broken off but the lenses where NEW, i decided i wanted to pull them appart & try my luck at painting the insides, when i realised how easy it was i pulled my headlights off swapped the newly painted insides & put the new lenses on...

this is what i ended up with

I hope im not boring you all with the stories that go along with the pics....

while i was waiting for parts i decided i wanted to get some fixed back seats to more enjoy the track work i had planned for the car, as nice as the leather seats are they just dont support you when your trying to go fast around corners, by fluke as i was buying all my oils at repco i asked them if they could get & how much a999 autotechnica seats where, the girl behind the counter replied with um, i have two out the back that have been floor stock for a couple of years, if you want them they are only $125 each, without even looking at them i said i'd take them SCORE !!! 2 seats for less then the price of one !!!

I also decided that the tan door trims & shifter cover did not match the new black & red seats so decided to do a little trim work to match it up a little better

Image

after sitting in the seats i decided that i really wanted a roll bar as i was so locked into position & wouldnt feel safe until i had something protecting my head so i got in contact with browns davis & grabbed their cams approved cage with paperwork

quick update, i now have almost done 1k on the new engine so half way there before we put some decent boost into her, i also just ordered my new brake upgrade which is pretty serious.......

http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Pe ... 10915.html

Good-Win Racing has long been the leader in Miata big brake kits, selling far more kits and far more options than any other company. Save $100 now on our newest rotor version of the best Miata big brake kit available. We designed the original FOUR WHEEL Miata Big Brake kit over a decade ago for the track users running lots of additional horsepower and needing additional stopping power. But for years many asked for a Miata four wheel big brake kit that included slotted rotors front and rear that were already assembled to the hats to make installation easier. Also, some customers wanted cast iron front and rear rotors. The version 3 Miata Big Brake Kit with rotors by Racing Brake answers all these requests and is sold both here and by dealers such as Flyin Miata. Our Version 4 Miata Big Brake Kit goes another step and uses four DBA5000 rotors with Alumalite center hats made from light weight aircraft grade aluminum connected to directional slotted rotors with NAS bolts and lock nuts. The version 4 rotors use DBA's patented "Kangaroo Paw" ventilation technology. 'Kangaroo Paw' is a patented hi-tech disc rotor ventilation system, designed and manufactured by Disc Brakes Australia for Good-Win Racing LLC. The Kangaroo Paw design features a series of 144 diamond and tear drop shaped pillars and columns, individually spaced between the rotor faces. This system provides two key advantages. One advantage of this design is the ability to cool the rotor faster than ever before...such that this 11 inch rotor behaves like a 12 inch in terms of thermal capacity and heat rejection rates, yet without the extra weight! The design works on the same principal as an air-impeller, designed to extract hot air. As the disc rotor rotates, aerodynamic turbulence around the individual pillars and columns is generated, increasing the heat rejection rate from internal areas of the rotor. The second advantage is the increased dimensional stability across the disc rotor, directly achieved by the individually spaced pillars and columns. These advantages of better cooling and better surface stability increase the disc rotor efficiency by as much as 20 per cent when compared to conventional 11 inch rotor designs. A 20 per cent increase in disc rotor efficiency, directly translates to reduced brake operating temperatures, brake fade, disc rotor stresses, disc thickness variation, run-out and shudder. The bottom line is that these rotors usually last our track users three or four times longer than the rotors in our version 1 and 2 kits, and about twice as long as our version 3 rotors (thus, the slightly greater entry cost is paid back several times in rotor replacement savings with many of our track customers reporting YEARS of track use on one set of these rotors.). These DBA5000 custom rotors also feature DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP) paint markings on the rotor edges which indicate the peak temperature range you reached on track (which helps you fine tune your pad selection). Also, DBA's AlumaLite hats provide the greatest resistance to distortion for uniform disc expansion and added thermal protection for your bearings. This FOUR wheel Version 4 kit includes: Wilwood Dynalite Forged 4 Piston Billet Aluminum Calipers in front, matching Stainless lines Front and Rear, Wilwood SmartPads (dual purpose pads) for front and Porterfield R4S pads rear, four hats and four rotors (10.75 inch rear, 11 inch front) fully assembled, our T6 aluminum mounting brackets front and rear and all hardware needed. As a no cost option email us if you prefer we ship your kit with Wilwood E compound up front (a track pad with the highest cold coefficient of friction in the wilwood race compounds, an ideal starting track pad for the light weight Miata). This Miata Big Brake Kit has enough thermal capacity for any street Miata, track Miata, autocross or V8 Miata! You will NEVER exceed the thermal capacity of this system. This Miata Big Brake Kit fits all 94-00 Miatas! Also fits 01-02 without the factory sport brakes. BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: Version 3 with Racing Brake Rotors is great for street and moderate miata track work but the more stabilized and better cooling version 4 rotors will last the track Miata enthusiast much longer, while cooling faster.

Hey Light year,

yeh i cant wait !! as soon as its run it i'll see you there :D

thank you for your kind words, im trying my best at making this the car i have always wanted with the mods ive always wanted.....

as for killawasps ;) i went to calder park tonight & noticed an astina with a gtr engine in it with a gt 30, wade stage 1 cams, adjustable cam gears set to intake +2, exhaust -4 (from memory) & a stock bottom end (with around 8.2:1) & had a chat to the guy, he made 240 rwkw at 18psi & 300 on around 28-30psi ??? ..........after speaking to Lee from avo a while ago about the avo kit the gt28 turbo that i have max's out at around 18psi so i think i should see around the 220-250 rwkw range, I know the heads on the gtr motors dont flow as well as nb8a heads so if i saw 250 out of my set up i would be over the moon...... i would also turn boost down to a drivable 180ish for everyday use although even that would be pretty hairy........

i guess i will find out as soon as i put some more k's on it......... but until then we can only guess..... & hope :?:

quick update, i have put bugger all km's on my car since the last post & after reading how long ago it was im very dissapointed in myself :( The brake upgrade has come & is very sexy & looks like it should work well as well

Ive also put the track badges on her now (battery & tow) as well as the aussie flags on the front 1/4's :D

after the weekend i'll be pulling her off the road to get the guru torsen in & fit the new brakes up, then just put some more km's on it. Im also getting harnesses in the next couple of days & after the tune im pretty much ready for the track (unless the box breaks under pressure)....

Looks like a weapon, congrats.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
