Doube DIN GPS/Radio / reverse camera

Hello my learned MX5 Buddies.

I am in the market for a unit as above.

I must confess , it's for the 4WD but you guys rock with up to date info on all things techo :D

Okay , what does it need to be ;

1. A standard double DIN size
2. GPS , compatible for 4wd maps/ any maps with external GPS aeriel/ receiver input
3. Input for reverse camera required
4. iPod input and control required. ( via fixed cable to rear if necessary)
5. AM/FM/ Digital radio tuner ( anyone know what the frequency will be in case I see something in Asia later this year) Also anyone know if there are 2 digital systems. Apparently the old one can be worse than FM and the new one is better :?

It doesn't need to be ; a CD/DVD player or a television or a computer

DAB+ is the standard for Digital radio in Aust. DAB is the older version. Not aware of any combined DAB+ GPS units.

This might help you.

What you are after is way beyond my recent research. Im after something simple but the question I posed to a dealer recently was this "I want as much iphone connectivity as I can for my small $$$'s" He sent me to an alpine dealer even though I went to to talk about a Clarion model.

So I went to the Alpine dude and he told me that Alpine would charge an iPhone where some others will only do iPod and that is why I was sent there. It is to do with charging voltage and I think iPod touch is in the same boat. Iphone/touch work on other models but wont charge.

So I dont know if my input is useful to you, depends on your ipod flavour :)
cheers

hey guys, just a warning about ebay sellers, if you are buying the generic 7 inch unit, do not buy from seller autoproz... i have bought one of these units for our patrol, and although it says item is getting shipped from melbourne, i have received the package from China. It was good for about 40 days, then GPS went blank, emailed the seller about the warranty, and he told me to send it to the factory in china :evil: when told him that i do not want to send the item to china, and am happy to send the item to him with the postage costs to china, i did not even get a response.. i am now disputing this with ebay and possibly with paypal...

just a friendly warning...
